Am I the only one who is playing this game on macbook (or Mac)?

A thread mentioning Macs devolved into a "PC vs Mac" discussion completely unrelated to the topic at hand? Color me surprised!

I'm typing this from one of my iMacs (I'm an audio guy, and I personally prefer to run ProTools on OSX), but I play XIV on my PC. It just doesn't run as well on my Mac.

Similar to other pre-built all-in-one systems. Not optimized for game performance, but generally "good enough". Mostly lacking a high-end graphics card.
Due to being not upgradable, this kind of computer is just not recommended for gaming.

Also, any mention of the existance of Apple Hardware should be avoided on game-centric forums, as this thread exemplifies. It just isn't worth the hassle.

Sure, they could be a hassle to ask but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be. Not everyone is a wiz when it comes to pc builds so this information is actually informative.

I had post a reply at page 3 said the mac client is possible. As i have a mac myself and I do prefer to play the game on my mac with mac client instead of run it though bootcamp. But atm SE only release the game on PS3 and PC focus, from exp of ask for mac client from different game the answer will more like "depend on the sale". And if you need a vote for FFXIV mac client, you have 1 here

Sure an OSX client is possible, IF SE wants to write one up for a Unix based OS. Most companies however don't do this, because the market is much larger on Windows. ie it's not a PC client or Mac Client, it's Windows or OSX.

I apologize if that is how you interpreted my thread. By no means that was my intention.

First of all, Doctor don't apologize to anyone. You were just curious to see (obviously because there is a smaller population of Mac players on FFXIV) who else is using a Mac to play the game and how they are doing with it. You were simply being attacked from the get-go and reacted to the trolling accordingly.

Hey man, all I said was that I like playing games, which OSX is clearly really good at since you have to run Windows to play the game. You're the one who started with the "negativity" by crying about PC elitists. I never once said you weren't allowed to own/like a Mac, I just don't because of the reason that I like gaming.

Let's just say I never tainted this wonderful thread with my "trolling" (protip: not everybody who disagrees with you on the internet is trolling), what would you have accomplished with the information? Maybe...20 people play the game on a Mac. So what? What does that information do for you? Prior to this thread, I had no idea you played on a Mac, nor did you know I played on a PC. I just saw people posting on the forums as Final Fantasy XIV players (well, mostly, lol). The information on what you access the game content is useless. Like I've said before, who cares? I don't care if you play on Mac, you shouldn't care that I play on PC. Computers are computers, yours just runs stuff differently than mine.

Nobody cares if you perceive yourself as some type of gaming communist either ("I just saw people posting on the forums as Final Fantasy XIV players" lol don't make me laugh... what are you, the voice of the people all of a sudden?). I play on a PC and my brother uses a MacBook to play games through Steam, the Mac App Store, and OnLive; so don't tell me you can't game on a Mac. It isn't as awesome as gaming on a PC, but then again, he chooses not to game on a PC and fulfills the rest of his gaming needs on a PS3 and Xbox360. He mainly got the Mac for music creation (which the Mac can handle better than PC's imo).

The guy that started this thread simply wanted to know who else plays this game on a Mac ... that's it. You're the one that called him a whining elitist, when in fact, you revealed yourself as a snobby PC elitist. You may be in denial, but you are a troll. I, for one, am interested in this thread because I would love for my brother to play with me, and I'd like to see who else is able to run it through a Mac, and how they did it. So far I know ppl have used Bootcamp to run Windows 7 and that the game runs perfectly fine. This thread is useful, but you, sir (madam?) are a waste of forum space.

You're right, he doesn't have to apologize to me, but he does need to understand that the way this post is worded it can easily be misconstrued.

Also I fail to see how the post is THAT useful, since he's basically asking if anyone plays the game on a PC made by Apple, since they are, well PCS just like any other. They tend to charge more for the same specs, but that's not really my point. One person showed they played via something similar to(or even a branch or fork of) WINE. The client is a Windows Client, there is not OSX client. There's no need whatsoever to know if someone plays on a Mac or non MAC PC, since they are ALL PCs. If someone can get it to play decently on OSX, that's a different story. But the OP didn't say anything about OSX, only a MAC, which isn't special at all since it's a glorified PC.
