You were simply being attacked from the get-go and reacted to the trolling accordingly.

Kiria, your attempts at being funny are putting me to sleep. Your attempts at defending your point are futile because they are meaningless in comparison to what this thread is really about. Nobody cares if you perceive yourself as some type of gaming communist either ("I just saw people posting on the forums as Final Fantasy XIV players" lol don't make me laugh... what are you, the voice of the people all of a sudden?). I play on a PC and my brother uses a MacBook to play games through Steam, the Mac App Store, and OnLive; so don't tell me you can't game on a Mac. It isn't as awesome as gaming on a PC, but then again, he chooses not to game on a PC and fulfills the rest of his gaming needs on a PS3 and Xbox360. He mainly got the Mac for music creation (which the Mac can handle better than PC's imo).

The guy that started this thread simply wanted to know who else plays this game on a Mac ... that's it. You're the one that called him a whining elitist, when in fact, you revealed yourself as a snobby PC elitist. You may be in denial, but you are a troll. I, for one, am interested in this thread because I would love for my brother to play with me, and I'd like to see who else is able to run it through a Mac, and how they did it. So far I know ppl have used Bootcamp to run Windows 7 and that the game runs perfectly fine. This thread is useful, but you, sir (madam?) are a waste of forum space.
You're right, he doesn't have to apologize to me, but he does need to understand that the way this post is worded it can easily be misconstrued.

Also I fail to see how the post is THAT useful, since he's basically asking if anyone plays the game on a PC made by Apple, since they are, well PCS just like any other. They tend to charge more for the same specs, but that's not really my point. One person showed they played via something similar to(or even a branch or fork of) WINE. The client is a Windows Client, there is not OSX client. There's no need whatsoever to know if someone plays on a Mac or non MAC PC, since they are ALL PCs. If someone can get it to play decently on OSX, that's a different story. But the OP didn't say anything about OSX, only a MAC, which isn't special at all since it's a glorified PC.

Due to being not upgradable, this kind of computer is just not recommended for gaming.

Also, any mention of the existance of Apple Hardware should be avoided on game-centric forums, as this thread exemplifies. It just isn't worth the hassle.
Sure, they could be a hassle to ask but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be. Not everyone is a wiz when it comes to pc builds so this information is actually informative.

    He... hehehe...

Annnyhoo... I myself use Gentoo Linux these days (and it's not hard at all). FFXIV does not run well enough via Wine yet though, but it is getting better! Not a fan of Mac or Apple in general, but I wouldn't bash on it. It works for some people, but not for me. At all.

Hmmm, I think that is all.

Oooh, fellow Gentoo user. I only use it on my Gateway and non-gaming laptop at the moment however.

Hi doc, you're not alone I play on a 2011 27 inch imac. Which should be enough to run smoothly but its a little choppy at all resolutions. How did all of you other Mac users configure yours. And to all you trolls Mac is not PC. Win 7 is NOT supported drivers are not supported its not a Cakewalk to configure. Our fans don't even work in win 7 and we need third party apps to stop our computer from having a melt down. So leave us the f*** alone. You are the elitest prick telling us to spend annother 1500 to play this one game. F*** you

It IS a PC, the 2011 iMacs use Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs and ATI (Check This) MOBILE GPUs. That Mobile GPU is what's really hindering you with your performance. If they had made it a little bigger with a desktop GPU it would likely be much better.

Regardless, I will say it as much as needed, the hardware is all PC hardware. They stopped using proprietary PowerPC hardware many years ago.

I'm not telling you to buy anything to play this game. What you're using is honestly like my current laptop, but not quite. My Gaming laptop uses a Desktop CPU and Mobile GPUs, where your iMac also uses a Desktop CPU with a single Mobile GPU.

Again, ALL PC HARDWARE. That's why Windows is capable of running on it in the first place. Windows runs on x86/AMD64 hardware, Windows 8 supposedly allows it to run on ARM as well. Your Mac is PC hardware whether you like it or not.

You're trying to win at an argument using technicalities. But in reality, if you marched up to Apple's headquarters and asked them if there was a difference between a Mac and a PC they would tell you a long list of differences (mainly because they purposely set themselves apart and have marketed themselves this way). So technically, you are correct. But the rest of the world knows the difference between the two so stop trying. This exists for a reason.
