Ehhh, the lowered DPS is noticeable, but only becomes really noteworthy when faced with poor DPS since now I have less ability to make up for it. I did find it rather surprising that VIT and STR are weighted the same for attack power instead of making VIT worth a little bit more. Oh well, this isn't the first time I've been faced with a complete flip of stat prioritizing in an MMO. The core of tanking is still there (I just have to work harder to maximize my DPS now, and challenge accepted!) so as normal I'm just going to roll with the changes and adapt. (ノ '_ ')ノ*:・゚✧
What makes me really sad after that is that parry is still garbage.

This is a much bigger concern than ego tripping warriors. The way parry is, people are still going to pick some str accessories because of better secondaries. I wish they made parry a flat damage reduction or something. You can only have it in a few gear pieces anyway so it could even be buffed to make a bigger impact on survivability.

Honestly, I loved STR tanking. It was so much fun trying to DPS stuff down while maintaining my tankiness. If I saw the healer struggling then I just stayed in Defiance longer, no biggie. The AP nerf? Yea that hurt ;-; but I will find a way to stance dance again. I was expecting a lower AP but it was lower than I expected. I may not hit as high as I used to but I will try to hit as high as I can when I can.
Parry still being garbage makes everyone sad I think. ('cept those that seem to love it >.>) Really wish they did something with that to make it actually useful.
war : 1 being a tank (insert here tank Cds) , slashing debuff (+10% dmg for you , ninja and the other tank ),-10% dmg taken for every1 100% uptime, and almost ranged dps dmg , good burst in AoE or Single , oh and being able to regain TP.
when u have 3 roles and 1 of them is being able to fullfill 1 and 80% of a 2nd one...u have a problem.
If SMN were able to dps and heal almost like a healer ppl would scream bloody murder...if Drg were able to dps and MT all the bosses (not at the same time of course), im sure tanks wouldnt be happy....

It's not like before where you get ~50 AP (or even +60-70 AP depending on offstats) per piece for a total of 250-300 AP. No. You'll get max 10-12 AP for all 5 accesoires, losing up to 330 Vitality and a lot of accuracy.
Yeah, min-maxing ok ok... but that's a little bit ridicolous.
I don't think you'll help your team in any way with that 1.1% AP-increase, but a 30% HP loss. Not with 40k tankbusters in Midas normal.
You won't stick out because anyone will recognize that you do more damage than any other tank, they will only see that you have low health and that you deal about the same damage as other tanks. They won't notice that your fell cleave is insanely stronger with e.g. 4850 instead of 4800, I'm for sure.![]()

I just wanna be able to go out and do solo content on any particular class without some asinine restriction based on what its role is in the dungeons/raids.
I dunno... OT pretty much is a dps till needed. Funny thing is that the new trial sephirot doesnt even require a tank at all in phase 2 so they both become number pushers.
I really think SE needs to give tanks some interesting mechanics and not leave OT looking to push numbers out. You all wonder why we were trying to do as much dps as possible... well that was why for me atleast as OT. 90% time dpsing and 10% actually off tanking.
At the end of the day overall raid damage is what kills the boss or beats a dps clock. Now you got one less option to push the numbers for your group with.
