Of course the crafter doesn't lose anything. But as a 60 omnicrafter I can confirm that it really doesn't sit well with me when attempt after attempt for somebody else fails, even if I, personally, don't lose anything. The other one does, and it's a crappy feeling to feel responsible for it even if it's not your fault, but rng's. That's what Culfinrandir was talking about.

I've burnt millions of gil in DoH/DoL gear overmelds over the life of this game for myself and others each gear tier. It should be normal course for any serious crafter. There will be lots of breakage. If anyone thinks they are one-shotting 19% or lower forbidden melds all-the-time, I hope they are winning the jumbo cactpot as well.

Even before patch whms did miss enough hits to go for melded jewelry. Now the situation is alot worse since its not really worth to dps at all without melding even in normal content.
I don't think its really fair to require healers to spent huge piles of gill just to dps a bit. If the miss rate would be same as it was before patch ppl could still put out some dps without melding and it would be enough to get those ppl that really want to go further
with dpsing to meld acc in their gear.
In HC/tryhard content I think its fair to require bit more acc since its there to push limits, but in normal / casual content should be able to dps without spending fortune for gear.
Also some healers use holy for other than dps purpose so it can be sucky thing to just waste mp and gcd for misses.

Yeah, I assumed that at first too but then he worded it rather oddly lol.

So finding out you get a free tier V materia weekly via Void Ark makes me think this actually won't be too bad. It's not ideal, but if you've raided as SCH in the past, it's nothing unusual. It's actually quite nice to have these different ways of obtaining materia as you're not forced to spend millions if you choose not to.

Judging from Midas NM, both healers probably won't get many chances to contribute to DPS at all as damage output is pretty high, so the main healer still has some choice and isn't required to meld accuracy. I did want accuracy on healer gear, but I can also see why they didn't put it on with this new melding system. SCHs / Noct ASTs won't have to sacrifice their iLvl as much for pentamelded gear if they manage to get tier V materia in every available slot. I'll calc it myself later but it seems like you might be able to get away with using no pentamelded <240 gear in the long run.

I am very happy with the new gear changes.
