Raising Summoners and Summoners not raising, venting

I do a lot of extreme trials and raids, but I notice that a lot of healers I've come across would pick another dps to raise other than a SMN when all the dps are dead. I can understand if the reason why they don't do it is because Summoners need swiftcast to raise or they will just die again, but a lot of summoners have swiftcast, and if they don't, hey they can still rez. SMN is my main and I leveled BLM to the lvl where I can obtain swiftcast (also needed it for WHM) and whenever I see someone dead in the party I would always raise them so the healers won't have to waste mp. I also notice a lot of summoners with swiftcast and not raising people -_- It just frustrates me seeing summoners not getting raised, or summoners not raising other people when they have swiftcast. Well i'm done venting. Lol.

I've always ressed people when i had swift up, On the other hand what bothers me is when the healers refuse to res people and im ressing everyone the whole run.. just call me a support smner >.> <.<... i can understand if their swift is down or low mp ofc.. but half the time its the opposite.

But I do love having the ability to res on smner.. both healers wipe on a raid.. smner to the rescue! Those are proud moments

My Rez priority order is based on what I think is most likely to cause us a wipe, and who among the dead can best prevent that. In most cases this puts SMN at the top of the list, but not always, and sometimes rezing a smn is a gamble on whether or not he'll rez other players (they frequently forget). Also keep in mind situations where half the party is dead are usually panicked situations where the healers are going balls to the wall to try and prevent a wipe. I just recently had a situation like this in M2 and I picked up our mnk because he was top DPS and then immediately regretted it when I noticed a smn in the party. This happened because I was hectically trying to heal the remaining party members and top off my tank at the same time I started rezing.

I only don't raise if my swiftcast is on cooldown. If nothing is happening and I have time to hard cast it I will.

As a summoner I will always try to raise to ease the burden on the healer but they will go and raise before i get the chance anyway.

I have on more than one occasion raised a smn in times of need and just had them swift cast their pet and start doting, the amount of head desking I do when this happens has probably given me brain damage.

If you see healers not raising them its because they've had smns who can't smn, don't trust smns to remember what skills they have or they genuinely forgot about smns raise ability. For raise priority its usually healers > tanks > bard/smn (depends on set up and circumstances) > rest of the DPS.

Don't expect summoners to be capable of much after they are resurrected. If they have no Aetherflow ready after getting back on their feet, then they will be little more than a warm body while waiting for MP ticks to summon an Egi or to resurrect other players.

i forced that party through to avoid a reset

i feel like those who are SMN but also play healers are more inclinded to use SMN rez since you gain this little back voice of [HEAL THAT DAMAGE, RAISE THAT PERSON, HEAL HEAL oh wait]

Or, as in my case and maybe some other healers, those used to healing have the party window somewhere closer to see than the default position, so they tend to be better aware of the party situation as a whole.

What I hate is raising a summoner only to see them spend their Swiftcast on an egi then use their aether flow to start dpsing. It's like, there's three dps dead, the other healer may be about to die or is out of mp, and....you wot m8?

But yeah. Basically, a lot of SMNs suck. Sometimes when I'm tanking I like to test a summoner by pulling a mob close to their Garuda. If it gets knocked back, I start slapping the summoner repeatedly and at every opportunity for the rest of the dungeon. (High-level only of course, lower-level I teach them pet control!)
