Yeah, I assumed that at first too but then he worded it rather oddly lol.

So finding out you get a free tier V materia weekly via Void Ark makes me think this actually won't be too bad. It's not ideal, but if you've raided as SCH in the past, it's nothing unusual. It's actually quite nice to have these different ways of obtaining materia as you're not forced to spend millions if you choose not to.

Judging from Midas NM, both healers probably won't get many chances to contribute to DPS at all as damage output is pretty high, so the main healer still has some choice and isn't required to meld accuracy. I did want accuracy on healer gear, but I can also see why they didn't put it on with this new melding system. SCHs / Noct ASTs won't have to sacrifice their iLvl as much for pentamelded gear if they manage to get tier V materia in every available slot. I'll calc it myself later but it seems like you might be able to get away with using no pentamelded <240 gear in the long run.

I am very happy with the new gear changes.

I ran the two new EX Dungeons with a BRD last night and Rain of Death + Foes made things so yummy. I noticed more misses but not to the degree noted here so I'm gonna chalk that up to Bard support power. lol.

So, the best temporary solution? RUN WITH A BARD! =DDD

(...yeah, I know, not a viable solution for everyone, but if you have a Bard friend, make use of it!)

Raminax's value is probably pretty accurate.

13% × 9 So probably around 470 accuracy required, which is lower than Thordon.

Tier V acc on all gear (16 total) will net you 546 accuracy + Grilled Sweet Fish = 573. Which would be close to 100% for M2S and probably no less than 90% for M4S.

18x12, plus 354 base = 570. A4S caster cap was 540. So while I haven't seen Midas Savage caps listed, a safe assumption would be a max raid/tome gear meld would work for the first turn or two, but you'd need to swap in 1 or 2 crafted 220 pieces and meld them fully for the rest of the floors.

With food you go up to 606, which should be cap for M4s, if not really Damm close.

Pentamelds are not really an option for most players, and honestly should NOT be necessary to do anything in normal everyday content.
I'd understand if the accuracy troubles were that bad in Midas Savage, but making it basically impossible to do anything but healing in normal very basic dungeons without spending millions on pentamelding expensive crafted accessories is just bad design, because it actually takes away a choice - do I want to dps or not?

^THIS EXACTLY! I'm only level 55+ with my crafting jobs but when I was 50 in ARR I just hated being asked to pentameld because you look, & feel, awful if you go through dozens of someone's hard gained materia. Other (richer) crafters I knew sometimes bought other players materia because they felt so guilty.

I did AntiTower & Lost City of Amdapor HM for the first time last night. My miss rate at 354 ACC was embarrassing. SCH are always encouraged to DPS & there's no way I'm going to sit around idle in a dungeon but to miss so often, including on Energy Drain, is not making the game more appealing.

I also run my ARR Beast Tribes daily & can assure you that the drop rate of ACC materia isn't great. It's RNG so I'm often left with the choice of MND or PIE as the rest are unusable.

In 3.1 raids they forced healers to DPS when what we really wanted was a test of our ability to manage the health of our party and our MP. Now that we're great at dealing damage they're forcing us not to when what we really want is to be able to brandish our skills as overall contributors. The point of the backlash in 3.1 DEVELOPERS, was that we want to choose how to play. Nobody likes to be told to do things, and all your doing is hot-fixing the mistakes you make as you make them, rather than solving the actual problems. Give us mechanics that make healing fun, not enemy stats that give us only one option.

In 2.0 if a dungeon took too long, or I couldn't keep up with a spaztank, I became a better healer (a better player). I learned to stance dance, developed muscle memory, wrote macros. My effort as a user of the game was what set me apart and allowed me to contribute. Now it's being reduced to numbers. Now what I as a player can do on the field is irrelevant compared to the value of my gear. I'm not undermining the value of gear, mind you, I'm merely stating that my ability as a human being behind the screen should be of value as well.

FYI DEVs, I'm going to avoid the Antitower like the plague now, because it takes an unnecessary amount of time to complete, and unless I'm willing to pour hours of my time and millions of gil into either leveling all my crafters to 60 (or find crafters), buy materia, and focus on going out of my way building ACC, there's nothing I can do (even with a wide array of damaging abilities) to change that. It's much more fun for me to just disregard that content altogether than to put in the ridiculous amount of work it would take to play it how I want. Stop with this idea that making things take FOREVER using lazy mechanics like bosses with UNGODLY amounts of HP or extremely high accuracy checks is fun. Making things fun is fun.

It breaks my heart when I'm throwing Malefic II and I see MISS. And then hitting a mob with Gravity and only hitting 1 out of 3. I die a little inside
