I've seen this go the other way, too, a la The Vision back in EQ days.I actually understand this more then most. I've played mmo for, god, 15, 17 years now... started in... 1999 I think. As such, I have endured many, many game "adjustments" aimed at fixing a broken system that I enjoyed. Slide casting in Asherons call... Beastmaster In SWG, supertanking in COH... Them are a few of many that jump to mind, and god I was mad when they where fixed, but it resulted in a better game 9 times out of 10. The developers should have never let you get self sufficient in the first place, they made a mistake in doing so. They are trying to fix it, and I think personally it's for the best. Time will tell.

And the opposite can be said, I will never understand why people are fine letting themselves be limited to only three sets of recipes, all because some person made a terrible idea on lunch break to twist and pervert the original intent of the specialist system. If you need any number and magnitude of all the different reasons people don't like it then for one, this very forum is full of them, whether you chose to understand the reasons or not is naturally, up to you, but there's enough of them to go around.
All the complaints can be solved easily by not limiting how many Specialist Stones you can use, if someone wants to go extra (increase the amount need to by an extra stone for each subsequent one owned) amount to not have to put up with this putrid filth system then they should be able to. Do extra, get extra, much like it was before. And at that rate, those that want them can get them and those that don't can continue to limit what they can make.
It will always, until the filth is burnt from the game, be something I despise and want rid of. I hope one day that happens, not holding my breath though.
Oh, and for the whole social crap reasoning... I do everything that's needed or able of more than one in this game in a party, or am always helping out people on my friends list, chatting and sitting around areas and being... you know, social... crafting was my alone time thing, go out, gather some stuff, go and craft and if asked do some crafts for friends (even my alone time thing had social elements OMG!)... I enjoyed that, and so did many others, progressing at a personal rate with no barrier put up and achieving self-sufficiency through hard work and enjoyment as a side thing to do when not doing all the ACTUAL SOCIAL progression required things this game has to offer... but no more because SE (didn't do it for this reason at all, get real...) wants you to be social or whatever by going to some guy gouging you out of the rear to make something you have the stats for but can't make because of this filth.

That's just a monetary exchange. That's nothing in comparison to getting to enjoy 8 different trade classes, leveling them, gearing them. Getting to work through a variety of different recipes. All of these things are FUN. So I trade all of that fun for having to hunt down a deal on the auction house on overpriced intermediate goods? Thanks but no thanks.

When I did specialist crafting for relic, I sold the HQ relic token items only to FC members at a personal loss to myself. I lost gil on every one and as the mat price went down, I lowed my price to the FC. Relic is casual content yet on Behemoth server the price of relic crafted turn ins were way over priced for many reasons. A lack of interest in gathering all mats was one of the causes the other being so few crafters to service the MB that prices to this day remain higher than they should be for casual content. Had gathering not been so complex and I had not had to invest a massive amount of time into leveling up and gear up three char, the price would have been much lower. It would have also been lower if many of the crafters I know on the server from 2.0 to the start of 3.0 hadn't left the game because of a bad crafting system from the start.
Work as a team and work with other people in your FC. your server, your friends who have other crafts.
You don't have any? MAKE SOME. We have a core of probably 5-8 friends working together to craft each other what we need. Each person sells their 'specialist' items on the boards. One person today already made over 45million gil.
Just something you don't like doesn't mean others feel the same... actually they are probably just more quiet because they are making money... but meh... just my two cents lol

Yeah, I have already made friends to make specialist work in 3.1. Most of the crafters I became friends with have since left the game as the are tried of the specialist system, So I lost the friends I made in the game to this system. Maybe other servers are better, Behemoth is not a good server to have looks specialist on. The cost of mats for 3.2 3 star crafting is low compared to other crafting yet the remaining crafters are selling the i220 gear for 25m to 50m on the MB. The i110 gear in 2.4 wasn't locked to specialist and the mat prices were much higher than current i220 mats but the final sale price was very low because there was completion on the MB keeping the prices reasonable at that time.Work as a team and work with other people in your FC. your server, your friends who have other crafts.

if they 'left' because they couldn't do it themselves, then they aren't really working together now are they? ;/ they are still playing 'solo', which happarently SE doesn't want it to be, they want crafting to be a 'team game' also.
So I guess people need to adapt... =) make friends people.. and work TOGETHER... it's actually so much more fun working with a team of crafters... FC people say it looks like a sweatshop in front of the plaza cause all the crafters are crafting![]()

I like it. It is good that not 'everything' in the game can be done solo. It's a social game, get a friend to help you. If you wanna do it all by yourself go and play offline.
To the OP I'm sure enough of us here would chip in the £9 a month to make up your sub deficit so we didn't have to here you whining

What are you talking about? We do plenty of stuff with FC members and friends outside crafting like dungeons, Raids, Frontlines, etc. Not EVERYTHING in a social game needs to be done in group activities and crafting was the proof that something like this can exist and work on a social game... that is, until they decided to ruin it.I like it. Why does crafting have to be removed from that social team play aspect? You do 90% of the msq on your own, you can gather on your own, you can craft everything except maybe 20 out of 1500 recipes on your own and you cry about it. Get over yourselves and get a friend to help you. Unless you are as bitter in the game as you are on the forums then maybe we can understand why you can't find oneWhat are you talking about?
