Parrying nedds to be reworked to make parry worthwhile, and more sophisticated than a flat % damage parried.
and on that note whats parry in this? its real useless....
Parry is the uncle at the reunion you tell all the girls to stay away from.
But seriously, it is a stat with diminishing returns that sometimes deducts 20% of physical damage that your healer will ignore for the most part
Just remember crit used to have diminishing returns and we stacked that to the high heavens in 2.xx

Only people who did not actually do the research. Many players at high level knew the diminishing returns on crit and would instead gear for a specific threshold, and go DET for the rest.(Or Spellspeed for BLM)
Dude, this!! I will admit I was kinda put off by the changes at first when I went at it with the striking dummy, but after going to Sephirot normal mode I was glad I brought my full Vit gear with me, even if it was an oversight. After a little whileI got the hang of his tank busters, but dude, a hit that took off 20k damage just because in a normal mode was kinda scary. I'm actually really excited to go into SephEX and Midas Savage because of the crazy amount of damage that's gonna be raining on us.
This only means one thing: the skill cap for maximizing MT DPS just sky-rocketed. Let's be honest, tanking a full fight in DPS stance wasn't skillful. Now, finding the times to switch to DPS stance and get the hard hits in is gonna be the true skill test, while also keeping hate and, you know, not getting hit by 40k damage.

As much as I bemoan the loss of 20% of my dps, I have to say they at least made the job more interesting. Generating enmity is important again, our tank stance is for more than tankbusters and something we put on before the pull. A vital aspect of my job just became relevant again, and I'm more than plate dps. The skill ceiling for our role just went through the roof. We're tanks again, damn it, damn if I'm not glad for it.

Why can't you parry spells?
I don't get the purpose of lowering tank output.
If it was to allow VITALITY to contribute to attack, then make 1 VIT = 1 Attack. Everyone would use VIT and the loss of dps secondary stats would probably balance it.
Producer said, many time, instead of nerf a job he would prefer to rise up the others. ( it's my interpretation, correct me if i'm wrong )
If good tanks were getting close to dps then the latter should have been buffed.
I'm glad that VIT play a role but certainly not on what happened to the left gear side.
To answer the topic's question, it's not better.
It's a bitter balance
