Q1: I think CON will be White and THM will be black. They both have a mismash from both classes, but CON's greater emphasis on healing makes me think it will be more likely to be black mage. While some equate black mages with elemental damage, I think more of simply destructive magic when I think of black mages, which makes it more of a fit to THM with all of its dots and leeching spells.

Q2: Ifrit is a primal, the Twelve are a different cast entirely. Linky.

Also, who says the jobs will be tied directly to the guilds? the whm job could just be more priestly version of thms who would rather spend their time more towards helping others. This is the beautiful thing about adding new lore.

this is true. but it don't help me figure out which to lv up. i want to be black mage and blow the crap out of everything. i would hate to be a healer :P. i think after 1.20. if some1 gets holy and the other gets ultima, this will be concrete proof

The point is we don't want to level both though. When jobs come out those handy skills won't be handy anymore because of greater restrictions on cross skills when Jobs come out. I, for one, can't wait for just that. I am a casual player with only 1 rank 50, and it sucks that I am completely inferior to everyone who has multiple 50's. Sucks a lot!

in the lore THM deals more with death then con does. and THM currently is closer to blm them cnj. CNJ has all the WHM style abilities atm

You're thinking way too hard and trying to make the facts fit your theories instead of your theories to fit the facts. I'm just gonna go in for a jugular shot against this whole CON = BLM because it has elements thing right here and now.

You're saying White Mage will evolve from the class that uses vampyric drains while Black Mage will evolve from the class that bestows beneficial buffs. You're saying White Mage comes from Dark Seal and that Black Mage comes from Tranquility and Repose.

You're saying WHITE MAGE = DAMNATION and BLACK MAGE = RADIANCE.

Let the elements go. It's clear who's good and who's evil. It's been clear the entire time, and their choices of who gets what abilities and strengths ever since the direction changed and jobs were announced only reinforces those assumptions.

Could they come out of left field? Absolutely. But it would still be coming out of LEFT FIELD, the least likely direction. Until proven otherwise, it's occam's razor up in here.
