Hang on, if meth is based on your overall perception score...and all you do is meth and you get dawnborne or the exclusive items? What's your perception score? Lol it must be WAY higher than mine. I still have to use Utmost Caution and Single Mind to get anything.

No, he does not get dawnborne from methx3. That's just what he does for the level 56 item, which yields crystals, clusters, and possibly duskborne. I don't think it's worth it though. I'd rather just Methx1 and collect 3. Gives more crystals, but no clusters or duskborne. Or you can just skip it completely if you're only aiming for the good stuff.

Dusk sand has a few uses. I mean, I still sell it for a good price so it must, right?

it pretty worthless on balmung, sells for like 100 gil.

Just question, is the ice and water Crystal/cluster from fishing ephemeral?

Also since cluster and Crystal is so easy to stack, I hope there's something to do to easily stack the shard...

Yes, Aetherial Reduction on the applicable fishing collectibles gets you Ice and Water Crystal/Cluster, depending on what it is you are reducing.

Sadly though, there is no corresponding means of acquiring Shards. Send your retainers out for em, you can get 30 every 40+ minutes at a high enough level.

Duskborne Aethersand is used in all one-star foods, including popular edibles like Creme Brulee and Steamed Staff. It's also used to make Draconian and Max-stat potions - and given how Alchemists have been wailing for increased potion yields, it's evident that a lot of people are making these items (and wish they could make more at once).

Yeah, there's a market for Duskborne Aethersand, on most servers, anyway. On servers where the stuff sells cheap, I dunno, maybe the raiding scene isn't as popular?
