    I'm randomly complaining

I play on both pc and ps4. I find it really irritating that my hotbars and gear sets are not automatically updated when I switch between the two. can this be fixed please?

Also in ff11 I never had to buy multiple copies of the game per player, once you had subscribed you could log in on whatever. Ff14 just smacks of milking money

Hotbars and gearsets are stored on the local machine (PS/PC) not on the servers. I don't expect any updates regarding this, sadly.

It is a "modern" task from all companies to purchase multiple copies of a game for different platforms, bot only SE or FFXIV are like this, most cross-/multiplatform Games are like this model.

There is nothing to fix, hotbars and gearsets are stored locally, they are not server side. It's the better option of the two.

It can still be fixed. And fixing it can lead to increased profits.

FFXI had a feature to address this issue (and the weakness of backing up from PS2 in general) where you could upload and download your hotbars and other information from the login screen by pressing a specific button combination. No need to overhaul the actual game engine, but giving people a way to back up and share their gearsets and character data via S-E's servers means more sales in the long run since playing on multiple systems will be less frustrating. I certainly don't bother the way it is now.

Not understanding the issue. Granted playing on multiple computers can be a little annoying cause I have to reset my gear sets for example... But it's not anywhere near a priority... Nor is the hot bar. Plus with all the issues with the servers due to hosting most of the info on their side... Putting more stress on it almost pointlessly doesn't seem worth it. I'd rather have more inventory slots then this.

The issue is quite simple. I play six battle jobs, three regularly, and that's not even counting crafters/gatherers. I have lots of hotbars, customisations and such for each job including PVP sets and various button mappings. I have a full list of gearsets. All on PS4. Imagine that I buy the PC version tomorrow so that I can play when I'm out of town; suddenly I have to spend quite literally hours setting everything up to match. Blind, because I can't be logged in on the PS4 while configuring the PC version.

Ok, so say that I do that and put all of that time in. For the rest of my gaming career I then have to remember to update every single gearset with every single new piece of equipment I earn each time I swap platforms. Decide that I'd like to move PoM to a different place on my hotbar for PVP? I'd better remember that the next time I log in on PC too or I'll keep accidentally using Benediction instead!

It's extremely easy to forget, especially if you don't use one of the platforms often. Saved some item in my chest for glamour and forgot? I'll be wearing that next time I swap gear on PC, then, and I sure hope I notice or my damage output will be lower and I won't know why. Whereas if I haven't played on PC for a couple of months, it's pretty easy to remember to restore my latest settings from the server before I log in (or log out and do it if I notice something is weird).

The function already exists because they let us do it to migrate from PS3 to PS4, and it existed in FFXI, so this isn't some massive undertaking people are asking for which requires them rewriting the entire way the game handles live data. We don't need them to auto-update every time we save a new gearset in-game to put lots of strain on transfers; a manual update from the login screen is enough.

Serilda, I'm glad you understand I don't always have control over which medium I'm playing on, sometimes it can be a month on one before I switch. Then I have to remember and update changes, it is tedious! I can't recall having this issue of ff11.

Every single time? I don't understand why people are so against this suggestion. Ok, some people only use one platform but is it that much of a stretch to imagine how useful this is for others? Even S-E acknowledge it's useful since they gave us the functionality on PS3 and in FFXI. I have also explained how it's a direct incentive for people to buy multiple copies of the game, leading to more revenue.

(It's also sickening the first time you get a corrupted save file on a console, since without PS+ backing up your character data is a convoluted process which nobody is going to be doing very often. And it's extremely easy to get corrupted character data on a console; all you have to do is log out immediately after changing gear and bam, all of your settings might be gone forever.)
