    I'm randomly complaining

I play on both pc and ps4. I find it really irritating that my hotbars and gear sets are not automatically updated when I switch between the two. can this be fixed please?

Also in ff11 I never had to buy multiple copies of the game per player, once you had subscribed you could log in on whatever. Ff14 just smacks of milking money

Hotbars and gearsets are stored on the local machine (PS/PC) not on the servers. I don't expect any updates regarding this, sadly.

It is a "modern" task from all companies to purchase multiple copies of a game for different platforms, bot only SE or FFXIV are like this, most cross-/multiplatform Games are like this model.

There is nothing to fix, hotbars and gearsets are stored locally, they are not server side. It's the better option of the two.

How is that the better option. A friend got a corrupted file and had to redo all his hotbars and he's all 60's. I also just purchased a PC version of the game and am not looking forward to having to redo all my preferences, hotbars and more. I totally disagree with storing these locally.

If they weren't stored locally, the game would have to regularly check with the server to make sure your hotbars were current, which would drastically increase the server load. They're already concerned regarding the amount of character data that needs to be verified (which is the current thing delaying the solution for inventory problems), and this would only increase the amount.

I do wish they had the option to save the data server-side like FFXI had, so you could back them up before reinstalls and the like. (You can sort of do this if you're on PC by making a copy of your character data, but it's not exactly user friendly).

I understand/suspect that may be the reason and I gather it's economically something they prefer not to do. On the other hand it's something that should at least save server side when you log out and doesn't need to be saved and checked constantly. I understand that perhaps a disconnect might be an issue but perhaps saving locally and then upon log out saving as a backup to the server could be an option.

What am I reading? All you need to do is to load your bindings from the server if there is none present on the machine and then save them again on the server when you log out. The server doesn't give two shits about the order your buttons in your hotbars. At least it shouldn't and there is no benefits if it does.

Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.

Hmm? It's very user friendly. It's in the launcher.

That one only backups to PC (and restores to PC). You can't backup from PC to restore to PS4 (or vice versa) which is what OP is asking for. Fairly sure you can't just put the file on a USB and plug it into the PS4 and import the settings.

Context is key. The post I was responding to said they didn't agree with the information being stored locally. If it weren't stored locally in some fashion, the server would need to do regular checks to make sure they were current, which would increase the server load. That's not the same thing as being able to store backups on the server (like you could do in FFXI), as the server would only need to check the backups when specifically asked to.

I always forget that option's there, though I'm not sure what all it saves. Does it keep your gearsets, too? It doesn't mention those. Back when I had need of something like this, I went through and copied my character file and put it on a thumb drive, which preserves pretty much everything.
