So much wrong here. They expect AS8 to be down within 2 weeks (I give it 5 days).

I don't see how AS8 being downed within 5 days or two weeks has anything to do with what I said, much less how it makes it "so much wrong". If they don't keep the game down till weekly reset time, some players (i.e. those that are able to be on between the time the server came up and the weekly reset) would be permanently ahead of the rest of the playerbase when it came to the weekly tome lockout. They don't want that, so they just leave it down till reset time. Seems pretty simple to me.

All maintenance is planned to finish in a 5 hour time window (0:00 to 05:00 PST). Start times are backed up from there depending on the time required.

That finishing time makes the update complete in the middle of the Japanese afternoon (likely for key resources to complete the patching). This makes the game available after patch for the Japanese prime time late afternoon. Given that most maintenance is less than 4 hours, this puts the entire maintenance activity within a normal Japan business day.

Most major patches have been planned for 24 hours. Patch 2.3 was planned for 8. This is planned for 10.

You can read into the above whatever you want. Based on the stats, I would guess the times are planned for operations resource availability and has nothing to do with customer impact. This is contrary to most IT maintenance activity I've seen in NA, where the work is always planned for the least customer disruption.

While the complaint is bogus, this thread reminds me that my crops might die. Guess I'll have to log on before work to water crops, and then pray that I don't start playing for real and lose track of time.

Nope, this isn't a legitimate reason for them to give refunds or any compensation for any downtime. Part of that subscription fee is for maintenance like this one tomorrow night.

They were being sarcastic, since nearly every maint, someone is on the forums asking for a refund for time lost cuz its the only time they can play that month or w/e.
