Doesn't that kinda, I don't know, defeat the purpose of playing an MMO to begin with if you just want to play with NPCs?

Or when the game starts to die out kinda like with 11 and the Trust magic to spawn NPCs to fight with you in a party. Which is kind of a sign that its on its last leg I would assume. I could be wrong but I also tried 11 about 2 years ago and trust magic was the most I could get to having a party being new.

Most parties you get in DF offer nothing more than an NPC would. Getting a simple hello from people is too difficult most days.

those introduced would directly signal the death of the game. NPC companions in MMOs (especially for instances) only get added when there's not enough population anymore.

I'll be honest. I hope none of these ever happen until the game is literally unplayable if it doesn't.

What you're suggesting is we take everything that makes an mmo a mmo and turn it single player.

Not necessarily. Even more now that you can now basically stay out of contact with the outside world in most instances. If you have three other friends you can roulette or straight out run basically anything without needing another player. The exception would be newer full party content.

If they are to allow chocobos it will probably have to be on undersized configurations only. No one will want to run a roulette with another person's companion instead of a player. It would probably take way more time. What this would do is provide an alternative for people who want to farm or tackle super old content without having to wait years in the queue (especially DPS).
