i don't know if it's really "anti-" new player, but it's seriously presumptuous on the part of the devs. I'd call it patronizing if i had to pick a word to describe it.
Because "OMG this game is Soooo Hard plus it asks me to pay monthly sub omgomgomg".
The developers only considered filling in maps as a gimmick to get exp. It was a nice "nod" towards players who enjoy exploration, but in practice it was rather annoying. However, they didn't simply drop it without a positive outcome. All of the exp that would have come from this was funneled into the ring you get from the Hall of Novice, except that it works for multiple jobs.
Absolutely. Plus, IMHO there would have been so many better ways to add such a feature. I mean it's okay if some players want to have all maps unlocked from the beginning. But why forcing everyone not to be able using map exploration any longer?
This game have thousands of pointless quest - why not making a quest to unlock the maps? Or even easier, adding an item that does the job? This way everyone could play the way he like.
The way they did this feels more like removing a feature from the game. Don't like it.
