I still don't see how punishing new players for being new and denying them the right to explore the game the way earlier players got to is considered "friendly". It seems very anti-newcomer to me.

i don't know if it's really "anti-" new player, but it's seriously presumptuous on the part of the devs. I'd call it patronizing if i had to pick a word to describe it.

Absolutely. Plus, IMHO there would have been so many better ways to add such a feature. I mean it's okay if some players want to have all maps unlocked from the beginning. But why forcing everyone not to be able using map exploration any longer?

This game have thousands of pointless quest - why not making a quest to unlock the maps? Or even easier, adding an item that does the job? This way everyone could play the way he like.

The way they did this feels more like removing a feature from the game. Don't like it.
