You mean to tell me that you all used maps while exploring Eorzea the first time through? Weird.

I ran around and looked at things.

Coerthas West is the best area for that -- lots of things to look at, lots of places to fall down go boom, lots of extremely misleading information if you tried to follow a Map in the first place.

This change rates a "meh" ... as does any mention of "the good old days" (usually prefaced by "I've been playing a Final Fantasy MMO for 10 years").

As it is, I don't remember any area I needed to go where the map suddenly didn't provide me with a direction despite the lack of details.

They'd rather be AFK in Idyllshire only needing to move their butts when it's time to go visit Alexander for raiding there's people in this thread complaining now that it's too much of a hassle to fly your chocobo to a undiscovered area when it literally takes 2 minutes.

And that they would rather AFK in sanctuaries and wait for their queue to pop than being out in the world (although there's nothing really worthwhile or relevant to do in open world zones, which is a waste even having it around).
This is pretty much the saddest thing about the modern MMO playerbase, but it can't be helped at all.

Probably yes from how much people are complaining about it already. My only gripe with it however is that some currents were from quests which just seems stupid to me.

This is probably the the dumbest thing I've seen all day. I think you guys are underestimating the new players, they will still want to explore. Just because you see the whole map doesn't mean you know what's actually there, this isn't google maps where you can zoom in and see whats around in a particular area. Also when I first entered Eastern Thanalan and noticed the burning wall from a distance, i didn't look at the map. I went straight there to check it out. You guys are overreacting, are you guys really that bored that the servers are down?

...because a thread made 3 days ago MUST have been made because someone had nothing else to do with their time because the servers go down 3 days later.
No way was it made out of genuine concern that something is taken away from newer players that many actually DO enjoy (exploring things on their own, getting achievements for things you actually achieve, instead of getting them thrown at you simply for existing) just because a handful of people want everything uncovered even though they obviously do not care about actually going to every previously-covered place, because if they did, they'd just..go there.

Seeing the amount of "special" threads popping up within weeks of the patch, I'd chalk it up to boredom. Every pre patch goes through it.
