    Solo Dungeons - The Possible Bombshell drop?

    I have read over the patch 3.2 preliminary notes and I do have to say I am excited about the this fact:

    "Retainers can now be given jobs."

    Point to the community - Could this be a precursor to the Dev Team giving us the use of our Retainers as NPC adds for solo player dungeon content?

    Give me your thoughts!

    Highly doubt it, this is mostly so that retainers can now equip job specific gear, such as Eso gear which will become the low tier tome gear in 3.2.

    I'd find it more likely to add in companions or GC mercenaries to join you in duties, than retainers.

    Considering the lore behind Chocobo's I don't see them ever going into a dungeon. GC Mercenaries would be a really awesome mechanic add and give us more reason to work with our GCs since right now, a majority of us are doing it for crafting and mat gathering (I personally have fully ranked in all 3 with capped seals for all 3 as well.)

    When they first added the solo capable dungeon mechanic I did post the thought about if they would allow us to use our retainers in dungeon. After all, most players are maxed with 8 retainers. remove 1 for your character and you can do any dungeons including BCoB and Alex.

    The other mechanic that, to me anyway, would be a really interesting mechanic is a split setup of the retainers (3 gathering, the rest being DoW and DoM) and taking everyone inside for gathering and clearing. The main 4 protects the gathers inside while they gather.

    The only problem with this mechanic is that currently the retainers do not retain their leveling of a class. If this was changed it would make for a very viable reason to go back and solo 4 player dungeons and some 8 player dungeons while taking in gatherers go get dungeon specific mats and gears.

    Are you implying that MOST players are spending that much money per month for max retainers?

    I'd be incredibly surprised if 10% of players had one additional retainer, let alone six.

    I have two, and it's plenty for me.

    It could be a step in turning retainers into companions.

    I honestly think that IF we get real companions that we can group with...
    They'll be their own entity in game.

    I honestly think they should just make solo versions of dungeons, return some mechanics.
    Reduce the rewards, to say...half the tome reward, and loot from the bosses (no bonus chests) only.
    Which would therefore still make group dungeon runs the faster, more efficient, & funner option.

    Tome gear & raid gear are what most folks aim for anyways. So 50% the tome reward would turn solo Dungeons into a major grind. But like relic weapons...it'd be a welcome option for many players.

    Not a chance. And I personally wouldn't even support mercenaries or trusts or anything like that.

    This is a social, multiplayer game. Having AI partners defeats the purpose.

    Same. I have two, and I don't know anyone who has more than that. The only people I could see having max retainers are the hoarders who keep every piece of dungeon gear.

    Isn't this probably ment to be they can become the 3 jobs that were missing? DRK, AST, MCH? I don't know if they are currently able to as mine are currently level 60 and have no real reason to try to change them.
