Wow, the new tome weapons are i230 base?!!
The Sephirot EX weapons are i220.
...and SE wants us to grind out an i210 relic? Hahahahahaha.
I wonder why they did such a huge jump this time around?

Have you managed to miss the point of the relic questline through the entire 2.0 series? It's always the last to upgrade.

Actually Relics started out being the top weapons (aside from Binding Coil which were the best by small degree), and continued to be updated with every increase in tome weapons so that as long as you had your relic weapon up to date it was still the top weapon (aside from Coil weapons).
This is a slap in the face to anyone who even wants to do relics. Why do them when they are made irrelevant? Each time tome weapons are introduced the Relic weapons should have an upgrade to put them right at the same level (or higher, but that's just personal preference because of the grind). I mean really.
Why should we even do relics at this point? It's a more difficult grind and can cost gil as well, when compare to easily obtainable weapons you can get in a few weeks just by capping tomes. And for what? An inferior weapon? I'm sorry, but I am not grinding my relic just to use it as a weapon skin. I want a damn weapon worth this ridiculous grind, and 3.2 removes any worthiness from these weapons now. They are absolutely useless in about 3 weeks after the patch since everyone's going to be able to have an i230 weapon.
Relics in ARR were still damn near top tier as long as you upgraded them because they got updates matching the tome gear. Personally I'm fine if they aren't as strong as Midas Savage weapons (or Upgraded Midas weapons that come from Savage, whichever was the case), but I'll damned if easily obtainable tome weapons are vastly superior to relics. That just doesn't make any damn sense.
Added: I won't be too terribly opposed if A) 3.2x is implemented with Relics update 3 weeks after 3.2. (Though I hope the grind is something other than being like these stupid Unidentified items, oye it's some freaking time consuming crap unless you no-life it) or B) Relics jump to 240 to match upgraded tome weapons.
We're looking at probably 3 more stages to reach that point. Personally, I'd much rather have some stages like the light gathering stage in ARR rather than item collections that require a vast combination of various dailies and other token systems throughout several weeks plus a rather large sum of gil to obtain.
I just got my first Anima weapon completed about 2 weeks ago and am slowly working on my second and have almost made my gil back that was spent on the first (2.5mil - buying base mats, which were bought and crafted probably a week or two before I completed the weapon). I'm now working on my second (and final) Anima weapon. This Unidentified item collection grind is the worst. I would much rather do fates again for an item, even that doesn't take nearly as long.

It's hard to say, I can see delaying the relics a week or two because people can technically grind them out in a week or less but 5 weeks does seem a little long to delay the relic quest. We will have to see how many weeks you need to do alexander normal to get the tome weapon first. I just hope we can customize the relic stats soon, like the last one. This is a slap in the face to anyone who even wants to do relics. Why do them when they are made irrelevant? I'm not going to get one of the new weapons I rather spent my tomes for the armor. Pretty sure the relic will get an upgrade in 3.25 though and if not I won't care either still gonna use it.
When I look back how they handled the relic in 2.xx I'm not to worried about my relic becoming completely useless right now![]()

That was my point. The raid weapons have always been the best weapons available at the earliest time. Relic weapons would catch up in later patches, and at the later stages were pretty much always BiS once you completed that stage of the grind. What I'm saying is, unrustle your jimmies cause they'll catch up again when we get the next stage.Actually Relics started out being the top weapons (aside from Binding Coil which were the best by small degree), and continued to be updated with every increase in tome weapons so that as long as you had your relic weapon up to date it was still the top weapon (aside from Coil weapons).
There's nothing "difficult" about doing daily roulettes and spamming hunts, beast tribe dailies, and Gordias normal, sorry.This is a slap in the face to anyone who even wants to do relics. The problem isn't that the raid weapon is better. Earlier (and my memory may be flawed because I didn't get to the relic when it first appeared due to slow levelling/altoholism, only got my zenith when they introduced atmas, and decided after three months and three atmas that it wasn't worth it and left it until they nerfed the droprate) the relics were the best until you GOT the raid weapon. Now, they introduced relics mere weeks before raising all weapons way beyond that. And it seems doubtful that they'll add more stages to the relic until way later. Sure, if they add more relic stages at the next minipatch (when they add the Feast and such) and raise the max relic to at least 230, that's fine, but I find it worrying when each stage of the relic seems stuck at 10 ilvl increases, whereas they raise the ilvl cap with a lot more each raid tier release. It makes for longer grinds for less reward. Especially when it doesn't seem like they've eased up on the length of the grinds for each stage =/That was my point. The raid weapons have always been the best weapons available at the earliest time. I don't know, I guess I'm just getting worn out by the same patterns repeating over and over ^^;
In terms of item levels:The problem isn't that the raid weapon is better. Earlier (and my memory may be flawed because I didn't get to the relic when it first appeared due to slow levelling/altoholism, only got my zenith when they introduced atmas, and decided after three months and three atmas that it wasn't worth it and left it until they nerfed the droprate) the relics were the best until you GOT the raid weapon.
Atma < Animus = Weathered < Novus = Non-Weathered < Nexus = Raid < IW < Zodiac < Augmented < Zeta = Raid
So Raid weapons aside, in 2.x Relics were generally the best until you got your upgraded Tome weapon, before it then either matched it (Novus) or surpassed it (Zodiac) before being made equal to the Raid weapon towards the end of the latest Patch.

The relic's next step will likely have an increase to compensate. It's i210 now but it won't stay that way. Relics are an investment.

and when we finished grinding for i240 relic, the next patch will make it inferior to something else again.
these relics suck. too hard, too long, too boring, and worthless.
