Thread: The curious case of Healer Hall of Novice

So you want to learn how to play the Healer role. You get your healer to level 15 and go to the Hall of the Novice.

You start going through the training. The very second training exercise is for you to heal multiple party members.

Only, they're not actually in your party. So you can't practice changing targets with F1-Fwhatever, and you can't even practice changing targets by clicking on their name in the party bar. You also can't use abilities like Medica or Helios... because they're not in your party.

Was this intended? I mean, it's not that big of a deal in the long run, but if you're really trying to teach new people how to heal to the maximum of their ability, you're sorta gimping them by not giving them access to all of their options.

Note that Healer is the only role affected by this, due to the way its abilities function.

It's the same way with all the solo instance healer class/job quests

Except I'm pretty sure medical/hellos/succor work in most of those

aoe heals work on the npcs.

As far as I can remember the only thing that doesn't work on non party members is eye for an eye? Maybe medica II? Certainly nothing at lvl 15 though. Since the Hall of the Novice is for basic training I don't see a problem
Though I guess target might be though.. At least on controller is kinda tough to target non party members . I usually have to sheathe the weapon to be able to circle through NPCs and such

Change your target filters, you can switch filters during combat as needed.

At the very least they made allowances for the AST quests to let you use all of your cards and aspected skills, as well as skills like time dilation on them.

Seems like a pretty big oversight not to do the same for this.

There should not be any user initiated concession at all. It is broken and feels cheap to play something subpar. Feel rather insulted tho.

Negative, they did not work at all when I did it. I almost failed that level because it didn't, and I had to quickly select targets and spam a single-target heal.

You shouldn't be using an AoE heal to heal two targets anyway except maybe in dire emergencies, as it's hella inefficient -- so as far as I'm concerned it was doing the right thing by not encouraging you to do so.

Just remember the SCH 58 quest where you have to save some idiots butts from a démon that poison like hell and damage like hell

And you struggle a lot between healing, dispell and DPS XD

Awful but so fun !
