The mentor channel concerns

The patch notes also mention "or changing area" so I think the mentor channel is map zone specific.

I doubt that as it would be pretty much useless since all mentors would need to stay in cities or starting regions to serve any purpose... The map change is just a trigger for the game to make another attempt at rejoining the channel if it was previously full when you logged in.
