It does relate directly to age, but also to experience. It could easily be used in the same context as senpai/kouhai, but english simply doesn't creat that kind of relationship with those words. The translation is accurate, but the culture is different. For example in activities a younger person could be your senior, or rank. They would just be addressed as sir or some such though.

I dunno, I'm pretty happy with the patch notes though. There isn't anything that i facepalmed. So, that's a win.
