Will there ever be less invisible walls?

I love to climb and jump onto stuff and each time I look around there are all those gorgeous paths I would love to take and places I want to get to.
I mean, look at the Foundation and all those awesome things you could discover if there wasn't an invisible wall everywhere.
I don't really get why they exist because nobody will ever get stuck since you could always teleport, I have only managed to kill myself once from fall damage since there always seems to be one magic HP point left and even if you could really die from fall damage, would people rage about that?
Will this game always seem like it's shielded by one of those plastic sofa covers?

Can you name any that don't also have the same kind of invisible walls where you can go everywhere you can see?

A lot of what you see when you look outside the invisible walls of zones doesn't really exist, per se. A lot of it is 2 dimensional, has awful textures, has no collision, etc. It's basically just pretty background for the areas that you can walk around in.

Do you mean other games? I found there to be way less invisible walls (to the point of either 0 or not noticeable) in: Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Blade and Soul. I have less experience in other games to comment.

Not to get off topic, but from what I've seen of Fall Damage, if you're Out of Combat, you'll always have 1 HP no matter how far you fall. If you're in combat, you can die from fall damage. Otherwise, I have no opinion on the invisible walls.

The places blocked off by them don't actually exist. It's essentially just a backdrop to make it look as though the world extends beyond the area that was included in the game. Games that avoid invisible walls generally do it by adding visible ones instead (as this game does in many places). It makes it less immersion-breaking since it's more clearly obvious; you can't go that way because you'd be walking through a cliff face or whatever, but either way you're still limited to only being able to walk through areas that have been defined by the game.

An overall bigger game world would help. If there's more area that you can traverse, you'll run into the edge where you can't less often. And there are some places I think SE could have done a better job, particularly where an uncrossable path extends into a region map, so you can see another spot where you can go, except that you can only get there by going around the invisible wall.

Another way some games minimize it is to handle region boundaries differently. FFXIV has hard boundaries between regions, where you exit one region, have a loading screen while it loads the next region you're heading into, then you appear in the new region. The last MMO I played, LOTRO, still has regions, but in most cases it loads them piecemeal whenever you approach a boundary. The result is that you can continue traveling and pass seamlessly between them with no loading screen. That pattern allows regions to abut each other in such a way that there's a lot fewer places left undefined between them. But eventually you still get to the edge where you can't go any further. Where topography allows, that boundary will have a visible obstruction, a mountain, a cliff, an impassable section of forest, or whatever. But some places it's still just an invisible wall, just because you've reached the edge of the game world and can't go further.

I hope for more invisible walls. Then we can ask the devs to make the Mime/Mimic class come to life.

I also wish they would not use invisible walls. There's one particular stream in Shroud that comes to mind. Both sides of it are playable areas, but you HAVE to use the bridge to get across. No running through the stream.

This was one of the reasons why I loved Guild Wars 2 so much. Hard to reach places sometimes hid the entrance to a secret jumping puzzle or treasure, which made exploring a really fun aspect of the game. Hell even the huge PvP area had a secret jumping puzzle underneath it that factions could fight over as they scaled its difficult hike. It felt like there was nowhere you couldn't go. ^^
