    House-specific ban list

So... someone came into my FC house recently and started harassing members of the guild. My options were to: close the house to the public and wait for them to log off, or leave the house open to the public and let them come in and continue to harass the guild. This is of particular interest because my FC house is open to the public for a reason: we run an RP restaurant/resort, which ceases to function if people can't actually come to it. More importantly, the one recourse I currently have... locking the doors... is insufficient to remove characters who are creating a negative play experience because it does not actually remove them if they're already there.

Adding a ban list that removes characters from the housing plot entirely and deny them entry on a per-character basis would at least be a step in the right direction. Obviously reporting the character is a necessary step as well, but the effects of reporting a character are delayed, and I need a more immediate remedy. If I can ban a character from the house, they can make a new character, but by then, hopefully, customer support will be on top of it and ban the account. And while they can continue to harass from outside the housing plot, it creates a safe zone inside the house where the harassed individuals, and my customers, can relax without someone interfering in their enjoyment of the game and of my establishment.

That'd be convenient, especially in your case. If anything, report them for harassment and a GM will take care of it. Generally with harassment reports they speak to you almost immediately.

I did, but it still takes time... it took about fifteen minutes to get a response. That's not bad... I consider that a good response time, honestly. But that's fifteen minutes of a blacklisted guy running around my house and making a nuisance of himself in front of my guild and my guests.

Well, the Blacklist will shut him up but not stop him from existing. Fifteen minutes isn't too bad at all. Glad it got resolved, hopefully.

You can message a GM for harassment. Other than that, in RL you have obnoxious customers too..

I think that might only work if we get instanced housing. I'm starting to think that the solution here is to individually instance housing and then allow you to "plug" your house into a plot if you own land in a ward. It seems like individualized housing instances would solve 9/10 of FFXIV's housing problems.

I've just asked someone else on another thread this same question, but how would that actually work?

The insides of the houses are already instanced, it's the outside that's in a premade ward/part of the neighbourhood and is limited. You're asking for a totally instanced house... so does that mean you don't want to go outside the house? How do you even get into the house? And if you can't see the outside of the house, would it even still feel like a house?

If you are able to go outside the house (but still in the instance you said about...) what exactly would you see? A house in the middle of nowhere? Or a house amongst a load of fake houses? Would that really be better without the feel of the neighbourhood and friends/random people actively running round/meeting up at the marketboard?

I think he means something I have thought up too. The game already uses instanced locations for things. Like those mini quest battle instances, Leves etc. They take a piece of existing world map and make an instance of it. With housing you'd still have your yard, maybe even the closest MB but that would be the limit and yeah, the other plots would have fake houses or nothing. The wards as they are now would still exists but they would be a premium. If you have plot your house would reside in that plot in that ward. But if you didn't, or your timer ran out (the 45 without visits) instead of going poof, your house would just be an instance again. Later you could get another plot (of same size and area, that is, only mist houses to mist etc) and your house could appear on it.

Everyone could have instanced house because the servers have to only run them when someone's there, unlike the wards where even empty ones need to exist all the time. And still there would be option of having neighbourhood for those who desires it.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
