The moment you add a scoreboard to pve you change the entire aspect of the game.

I dont know if you know a MMO called DCUO, but they have a pve scoreboard that you can see at anytime during the instance as well as popping up at the end of the instance. Their community has also become known as the most toxic MMO communities of all time from several MMO articles and reviews.

If anything I would hate for FFXIV to fall down that path of destruction.

I have to agree with Yoshi's decision to keep a scoreboard out of pve. It is for the best.
DCUO is really no more or less toxic than here. The scoreboard over ther is an huge help in improving and evaluating your gameplay. But it is also a f2p game. What makes you think the board has more if an impact than f2p?

By the way. Every game I have ever played has people on their forums claiming that game has the most toxic community, and I'm sure you can find several reviews and articles to back up each claim.

Downfall and destruction... there is so much fear mongering in every thread about numbers and feedback.

Also, I would work on that sarcasm, kinda lacking.
And how will you have any idea what the numbers mean without a metric to compare them to?
