The moment you add a scoreboard to pve you change the entire aspect of the game.

I dont know if you know a MMO called DCUO, but they have a pve scoreboard that you can see at anytime during the instance as well as popping up at the end of the instance. Their community has also become known as the most toxic MMO communities of all time from several MMO articles and reviews.

If anything I would hate for FFXIV to fall down that path of destruction.

I have to agree with Yoshi's decision to keep a scoreboard out of pve. It is for the best.
I have heard of DCUO, I played it briefly on my PS4. That said, I think you may be mistaking causation and correlation. Is there any evidence to suggest that the scoreboard resulted in this community. I could argue that it may have to do with any number of other factors, i.e. DC Universe attracts a certain playerbase, F2P attracts a certain playerbase etc. etc.

Personally, I have witnessed as much toxicity in games without parser support as with. Guild Wars 2 and FFXIV both blocked access to this, but people are still jerks. WoW embraced it and people were jerks. In all 3 games, there were a small subset of toxic players and a majority of friendly players.
