What was your most SHINING moment as a DPS tanking a dungeon/raid.

After killing the ants passed the 1st boss, the WAR decides to leave for reasons unknown. I shift to Fist of Earth stance and pop all the defensive CDs I could use for every small pull. We break the 1st honeycomb and decided to have Titan-Egi tank. It did go so well.

Up until we get to the 2nd boss, (that one giant bee I cant remember), I let the SMN start the pull with Titan-Egi and try to ease up on dps, to keep myself from ripping hate. However, despite all of the heals, Titan-Egi falls to the bee sting. I try to keep as much hate as possible while in Fist of Earth Stance to mitigate whatever I can and rotating CDs. The bee nearly kills me 3 different times not paying attention to the Boss's ability called "Ally" as I am not used to this situation.

During the insuing chaos, a DRK joins the party, but is locked out. Watching us as we rip this bee to shreds without a tank.

TL;DR - Tanks are overrated :P

I don't know about "shining" but last night I did have to tank Irminsul in Void Ark through the entire fight.

I think in the tanks' defense, they didn't know Irminsul had to be tanked; it's not totally clear that it does anything besides periodic AoE. Unless of course, you're the person with the most hate on it, in which case you DO notice, especially if you're a DPS.

Probably when I tanked the last boss of Tam-tara HM. Healer and other DPS were dead, I was tanking for whatever reason...we were down to about 20 percent and dying quick.
I whip out my awesome LB2 - back then still the healer one for BRD - and boom, we live, boss dies.
It was great.

My shining moment of tanking as a DPS was from long before Heavensward was a thing. I ended up monk-tanking Titan EX from around 10% when both tanks got knocked off. We were running in Duty Finder, hence two tanks. Fists of Earth, Keen Flurry, and a Scholar that spammed the hell out of Adloquium pulled us through. The best part was, that's the run I won my pony from. :3

Back when t9 was current, mt died in first phase to cleave. Held aggro on BLM through raven's beak (RIP good manawall) and lasted long enough for mt to be rezed and take back hate. Then went on to kill the fight for the week without anymore deaths.

My best BLM tanking happened last year in Titan HM. The MT died somehow (I think the OT got landslided off at some point too) and I suddenly heard that ding sound effect that meant I was now the main punching bag. In a panic I ran over to where the tank was supposed to stand and faced Titan away from the party. Then I put up manawall, and cackled as his mountain buster did 0 damage. Of course, once manawall was used up his next auto attack brought me down to 20% hp, but luckily the tank was raised and provoked it before I met an ugly end.

SE, why did you nerf my beloved manawall? It was the best panic button for those many many times I forgot to use quelling strikes before my triple flares.

I was doing Titan ex unsynched (5 people) with my FC for ponies.

During heart phase we accidentally freed our only healer in the landslide.
Black Mage goes on physic duty during adds but gets a lag spike and eats a landslide.

So it's only me (monk), bard and tank.
Bard wasn't able to avoid some bombs so she dies during the stomps.
Tank too dies at some point.

So it's me and Titan (3%~)
I got some lucky dodges, used every self healing CDs available and almost died just as I killed Titan while everyone was cheering.

No pony dropped. ;_;

Was the healer in this situation, but I joined an Aboretum run where the tank just left after the first boss. We wound up going without them and beat the dungeon without a tank. Same party setup too, had a SMN and a MNK.

It was Stone Vigil (hard), set up with me as NIN another NIN,WAR and WHM. So at the last boss the fight starts well enough till the second boss pops, at that point dmg starts on the NIN and WHM, as they are dodging,they both die from the same fireball. Once they are down the tank gets sandwiched by both bosses and he shortly meets his end also. So there I am left alone with boss one at 42% and a full second, I proceed to dodge and dance my butt off and manage to down them both all the while making them watch from the peanut gallery. To top it off, I got my zodiac drop on the way out. Share button->save video
