This has been a common gripe among a lot of the jobs for a very long time, more so for Pld's than most. They have one of the worst cross-class kits in the game. It's one of the reasons why people have made numerous requests for Esuna, Invigorate, or Blood for Blood (especially considering Gld can use them but Pld can't, for some reason), to be cross class skills. That, or change Cure to scale with Str instead of Mind on Pld. Since the beginning, Pld has had an empty and "wasted" slot, but they're not the only ones.

SE received more complaints about cross class skills than Santa Clause receives wish lists at Christmas. Their response was to ignore them. They then decided to make all future jobs start at lvl 30 and have no starter classes.
