I definitely agree with this thread.
Besides, considering you can't out-range mob auto-attacks while kiting (unless you're using Sprint or something.... and even then?), why do people do this?

Don't run away from living! That's an order!
As someone who mains healers, it drives me up a wall when I see a healer pull aggro and run away from the tank. If you pull a few enemies away, chances are high they won't do nearly enough damage to kill you right away. Heck, outside of a handful of special attacks, they shouldn't even be doing enough damage to make you panic. Just run up to the tank and heal yourself. Problem solved. It's obviously still bad when dps run away too, but it irks me way more when I see healers do it.
Speaking of running away, guys, we need to talk: don't run away from the healer in frontlines and then complain when you die. I have six other people I need to look out for, seven if i include myself, and I'm not going to worry about some special snowflake when the rest of the team are getting their faces smashed in.
Go right up to that mob and punch it in its fucking face.
I like to run away when I have a pack of angry mobs after me because the tank died
I hate when I rip enmity off from the tank, I go to run towards the tank and the tank runs. >_>
But it's basically other MMOs that have ingrained in players to run away, or kite, like headless chickens. But since playing FF XIV, I have made it a habit to run towards the tank whenever I have adds, regardless of MMO I am playing.
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
And as a NIN Shadeshift is the second move we learn. And I can pull hate easily. Especially before Lv56 and I have Shadewalker. But, with Shadeshift always at my disposal I can pseudo OT. And since I'm melee and just across from the tank, I won't have to for long. In theory. When I get argo as a Dragoon I typically just activate foresight or keen flurry with Bloodbath and Off Tank till the tank gets the hate back. As a Summoner I'm not beyond swift casting to Titan if the tank doesn't regain aggro by the time my quelling strikes-Tri-Bind combo wears off.
Also as an aside, I've had healers run to me for a Smokescreen after they've accidentally grabbed aggro. Which always makes me smile.
Remember to put regen on your tank before every pull!!!1!
I had a healer once who did that the whole dungeon. Since i never had any issue at all in getting aggro I never said anything.
I've kept the party from wiping a few times by kiting the mobs around the arena when the tank died, giving the healer time to get the tank back up on its feet. A lot of mobs do not do a lot of ranged damage, only melee. Though just as many times we died anyway.
Also healer kiting the adds was the default tactic on the ant boss in cutters cry.
