Is it wrong to pretend you new to the game on an alt?

Hello.

This is something that has been on my mind for awhile. I've been curious to know how the community feels about players pretending they're new to the game on alts. On my server, it's common to see people play alts for role play purposes, although some of these low level toons claim to be new to the game which is highly unlikable on a server that is always locked.

So let's discuss. Do you feel it's wrong to pretend your new to the game on an alt?

Not at all. I pretend I'm still a virgin IRL all the time. Also for RP purposes.

No, no harm in doing so as long as you don't intentionally fail at things and slow down dungeons etc.

Absolutely no issues, its one of the only ways you can start fresh in fact. However, I would draw the line when it comes to content requiring heavy commitment like HC raiding statics which assume you are on your main unless specified otherwise.

It's only wrong if it's used to deceive people - such as asking for or accepting items and gil meant to help you get started when you already have plenty of resources already on a different character.

When leveling an alt, I won't tell or hide the fact that I'm new. I let them think I'm new, and I let any mistakes seem like they're because I'm new ;P
