Still Cannot continue in the Main Scenario Quests

The game is instructing me to complete quests that I no longer have access to and I've been trying to receive help for a few days now.

Steps:
- I originally saw "A Recurring Problem" was available from Minfilia when she was still in the Waking Sands (she is now in Revenant's Toll).
- I did not accept and complete "A Recurring Problem" because I went ahead with the main scenario quest and it was not listed part of the main scenario quests.
- Proceeding through the main scenario quests I am not at the point where the next quest available is "Good Intentions" and happens to be from Minfilia as well.
- I cannot begin "Good Intentions" I need to unlock and complete the hard mode of the original trials.
- The only quest to correspond with the hard mode trials available to me currently is "In for Garuda Awakening" which I cannot accept until I complete the dungeon "The Bowl of Embers (Hard)
- Online it says Thancred offers the quest that corresponds with the hard mode of the Ifrit trial but currently Thancred is in Revenant's Toll, sitting drunk at a table
- It also says online that I must complete "A Recurring Problem" to unlock the quest from Thancred but the quest is no longer available.

I'd like to know if this can be solved at all or if I'm just going to have to create a whole new character and do all of the main scenario quests all over again. Because of this problem I cannot continue with the main scenario quests and cannot make it to Ishgard, which was the whole point of paying for the expansion.

If you have attuned to the Aetheryte in Zahar'ak a second time, you would have finished the quest from Thancred. It just opens up Bowl of Embers (Hard). You need to complete that, once, in order to get the next quest.

All three hard-mode quest starts are in the Waking Sands. They have you travel to re-attune to the Aetheryte and that finishes the quest. Completing the Hard-mode trial then makes the next quest eligible.

It's not "get quest, do trial, complete quest". It's "get quest, attune to Aetheryte, complete quest" then "do trial".

These quests are horribly designed... I spent hours explaing to people how to proceed through them and unlock each trial. There's a 50% chance any player will get stuck on these and then complain heir game is broken when they really just missed an info on what to do next, often from button mashing through quest text without reading
