    Messy Battles

    I know reforms to abilities are coming, and crowd control as well. I was wondering if there is going to be any reforms to HOW monsters are dealt with in groups though...currently the best way is for everyone to spam as many AoE abilities as possible and it doesn't particularly matter whats attacking who in a normal EXP setting. Is there plans to make battles more organized? I feel like every ability performed in lost in the clutter of all the weaponskills going off at the same time...

    I feel like single target damage has lost some of its flare with the recent claim system. Although it's finally great to see that adventurers that can actually hit more than one target without being reward penalized.

    While I feel I may get stoned for saying this, I think there needs to be either a) limit of targets that can be affected by AoE (such as Brandish striking up to three targets), b) reduced effectiveness as the number of targets increase (such as a spell dealing less damage), c) reduced accuracy as the number of targets increase, etc.

    It seems to me like the link system isn't producing desirable gameplay exactly because it favours AoE spam. This is further amplified by the chain system (which I opposed before it was suggested by the devs) that adds further incentive to massacring large groups of "weak" enemies rather than tackling single high level opponents.

    The current controls, camera and targeting don't even fit this type of gameplay all that well.

    i support more organized parties i dont like to play in parties i'de rather solo than deal; with the chaos even if the xp is crazy good just dont feel like ff to me

    To my knowledge, there's a limit. Not sure but I think it's 8. For both AoE WS and AoE nuke.
    I would prefer your solution suggestion b) reduce effectiveness, as I think 8 targets is fine. I've started playing mages recently and there are some OH SHIT situation in PT or during LQ where meleeing people had saved me with their AoE WS. Considering how aggressive monsters or group monsters are usually cluttered together in a room (esp. in dungeon or caves) so we're likely to pull and get a lot of links, limiting AoE target to 3 would be a bit too cruel.

    Theres actually not a limit. Get 15 monsters together, hit them all. A limit would make people pull less.. but then, for AOE parties and such, it is going to again slow down EXP gain, and with the current strength of monsters at or above your level, making it a limit like 3 or so would make it impossible to get chain 5 or higher.

    if they plan to keep this system thats fine i just wish they would bring back ATB or make the next FF with ATB its what has made SE what it is today. been a long time since the last one and i think its way over due. this spam is getting out of control. hell remake ff 1-10 in hd that should bring SE the big bucks and make lots of ppl happy

    I hate grind parties unless there is a max of 5 or 6 people. 8 people is just too much IMO
