Where are you getting that casters and healers get the same set? I've only seen Shiva being assigned to casters with no representation of healer gear whatsoever yet.Putting monks in a set which resembles that of the tank classes is a strange move.
It's also a little depressing that I play all five 'caster' classes and get a single model to look at with this set; it feels even worse now they have another class (AST) in the mix yet we're still all sharing a single look while they go out of their way to specifically make a different set just for one class (DRG). How does that even make sense? And the caster colour swap doesn't even resemble Shiva any more :S
I'm not terrifically excited about this gear, visually.
If you look you'll see both sets share the same horns and spikes on back/elbows.
Edit: forgot link to the post.

With some changes like the longer cloth on the Tank, and probably some other stuff aswell.
Alahara and I already mathematically broke down a number of gearsets. It's also a little depressing that I play all five 'caster' classes and get a single model to look at with this set; it feels even worse now they have another class (AST) in the mix yet we're still all sharing a single look while they go out of their way to specifically make a different set just for one class (DRG). We found that Fending has substantially more unique gear sets.
Maiming/Aiming have the second most unique gear sets. *When you include this patch*
Healing was next.
Then casting.
then striking.
And scouting completely lacks any unique sets.
I wish people would stop trying to call out Dragoon because it just makes them look bad.

You didn't count crafted gear or PvP gear.
PVP gear, when they're all unique, tend to be unique. Or at least used to - looks like the current sets fall into the trend and are the only ones I can really count (Whcih gives Monk an extra set, and Maiming/Fending shared again.)
Crafting, I'll be honest - I don't know if I'd be able to identify them all properly. I can't tell which one's are unique at a glance like I can with Eso/Raid gear. It's the same reason Asahara avoided the pre-50 sets when adding dungoun gear.... There's too many reskins and re-releases to really be able to identify them all.
Edit:
Taking a look at the crafted 50 sets:
@i110: Fending, Maiming, Striking/Scouting, Aiming, Casting, Healing.
Other ilevels look like reskins but would welcome someone to point out some differences.
Crafted 60 sets:
@i185: Fending/Maiming, Striking/Scouting, Aiming, Casting/Healing
PVP
@180: Fending/Maiming, Striking/Scouting, Aiming, Casting/Healing.
I don't see any other sets that look different from what existed in the game already.
EDIT 3:
so for the reference, that brings sets up to...
Fending: 15
Aiming: 9
Maiming: 7
Healing: 5
Casting: 4
Striking: 2
Scouting: 0

http://imgur.com/MHJKZdt for a look at the tank set and yes I do find it disappointing that they didn't use Titan. So much potential wasted as usual.
I'm more mad at Ramuh not getting a set than Titan not getting a set.
Shiva is healer gear. The Dengeki article changed the text so it now unambiguously reads "Healer: Hailstorm Healer Attire" instead of "Caster". BLM and SMN get a black version visible in the patch preview video.
I'm not complaining that DRG gets a nice-looking set. I'm complaining the designers effectively invested a considerable amount of time into making a whole brand new gear set for a single job, when five other classes are sharing the exact same model. I don't especially want either to be unique for a specific job (and they never will be, since there are three healing jobs and two casting jobs which share the same stats). I don't even mind if BLM/SMN shares with MNK or something crazy. I just think it's a silly way of allocating the sets from someone who happens to play five jobs which all use the same look. It's stale and in the case of healers I can't even glamour them to be unique for each job without collecting multiple pieces.
(I don't even think it will look that great on me, despite getting to wear it five times over.)
Sometimes I wonder - would you be happier if you had to gear your jobs completely seperately, but had more unique looking sets? Take a look at the current Eso's - many people, myself included, complain about the fact that it's an investment into one job. This is an investment that Melee DPS always have to make, on top of being the least desired role in duty finder due to the sheer number of them. If they get a few unique glamors by comparsion, I think that's a fair concession.I'm not complaining that DRG gets a nice-looking set. And, for the reference - I am a main WAR, but I sub Dragoon and will play it often. It is, my favorite DPS class. I think the new armor looks awesome. I think the healer/caster gear looks awesome, too, and will go well with my alt character.
What I'd prefer to see? Instead of "The designers invested in giving one job a unique look", complain that "The designers didn't invest in giving all roles a unique look." That's a far more endorse able argument.
As a single class player, I level other roles merely to get into roulettes faster/help friends, the esoteric system was fine to me. But I'm not the entire playerbase. Having unique gear at least on an archetype basis would be the best compromise I agree, though Squeenix have kind of trapped themselves with DRG/MNK. Both use strength but one wears "leather/cloth" and the other "mail/leather".
