Part of the reason they probably went with level 60 instead of level 50 is that, at least for players who have been at the game for awhile, there's no guarantee they've actually played a level 50 job recently. Before I picked up DRG a month or so to finally take it to 60, I hadn't touched it at all since 2.2, which was in...March of 2014, I think? That was two years ago—if DRG had been my only DPS class, I'd probably be pretty rusty on DPS fundamentals by that point. Anyone with level 60 on a role, though, has likely played that role sometime within the last few months, which means they'll probably be more comfortable offering pointers and the like. This isn't to say that someone who hasn't tanked for 2 years couldn't offer tips—but this is just one way to make sure that the mentors with those roles have recently engaged with them.

It's also probably level 60 in part to "wow" new players. Having someone who has obviously invested a lot of time into the game take time out to help you will probably feel cool to new folks, and level 60 is, ultimately, more impressive than level 50, since a newcomer to the game may not realize that the old level cap was 50.

Oh i know the perfect requirement they should have asked:
    * posses a zeta weapon from a tank, a healer and a dps!
=> this way they would be sure you played a lonnnnng time on each of these job (most of the steps need you to play on the weapon job itself, no shortcut possible)
(oh wait i meet this requierements too. **shhh** )

Well i guess the requierment they really asked is ridiculous compared to this
But i dont think they need elitist mentors.

More seriously, the main aim is to help new players.
From what i see, the new mentor system itself will easily provide 2 things:

    - Short dungeon queue for new players.
Most of you dont necessary remember that, but when you need to do a specific low dungeon to go on storyline, and you are queuing as a dps.... it can take forever to trigger.
Or at least a time discouraging new players.
(I still remember (while creating a player on another server), queuing for "Cape Westwind (Trial)" for days (back in days) cause it was on no roulette and no one but new players were queuing it)

    - Friendly behaviour from at least mentors.
Right? all mentors are here cause they like helping, right? No matter if they re arguing how hard the mentor requierement are, they re still here cause they like to help, right?
Once again, i remember a lot of dungeon farmer being extremly rude, tring to save some minutes on their rush, no matter what.
And still again we dont want new player to be scared.

So i d say that, set aside from us being a good mentor or not, the mentor system will already be a success with these 2 points alone.
Moreover when most achievement hunters mode will be over, i guess we ll find only mentors that truely like to help.
