    Why is it called a popoto?

    Why is it called a popoto?

    Everything else in game is spelt as it is IRL: we have carrots not corrats, walnuts not wellnits...why this particular foodstuff? It's been bugging me for months!


    Please could some kind soul let me know the answer? I'm going slightly mad with the confusion.

    It's because potatoes are poisonous to Eorzeans.
    Oh lol apparently they are a relative of the potato. Brought over from Vana'diel apparently. (Guess those Eorzean explorers went very west)
