I looked all over (the sight seeing log area) and never came up with anything aside from the clear signs of battle. I never thought to connect it to the hanging dragon a ways away. The only snag is that Cuelebre (unless the name was accidentally double-booked) still lives (and seems to be a Shield Dragon).

I'm actually hovering next to it at this exact moment (happened to be in the area and remembered this thread). For that hanging one, its eyes are still in its head. They are very much the lifeless eyes of a dead dragon, but definitely still there (also no scarring around the eye socket like we've seen with Nidhogg).

If i recall correctly Fern/koji fox) on a lore pannel in one of the Fan Fests he spoke of an area in normal coerhtas they wanted to put but they couldn't, wich he was sad about.

i can't recall correctly, but i think it would be called like(i can't recall the real name) a garrote/gauntlet, something like that, wich would be a stretagy from the dragoons= lure a dragon into a valley/crater, then hiden dragoons at the top would toss spears/dragonkillers so it would stay still(piercing wings and so), then they could kill it.

when i saw that for the first time, thats what i understood it was. i guess they finally put this specific thing in game afterall. in Heavensward.

Well well, there it is then. Gotta love the little details that they put into the game. So, perhaps the dragon is from that conflict.

I saw as well. It's hard to see, but I would also say that this dragon is simply skewered and dead. At the moment, I'm assuming that he/she is an unfortunate victim of the conflict near Dusk Vigil. I'm sure that there is a story in there, somewhere, but for the moment this seems to be the most viable theory we have to go on. There certainly does not seem to be evidence pointing to anything else.

If I'm remembering correctly, and casually reviewing summaries of the lore panel and my own memories, that would be Scarwing's Fall in the Coerthas Eastern Highlands.

You're also conflating Scarwing's Fall with the Weeping Vale & the Choke (which was Eastern Lowlands). The Weeping Vale was where a legion of Ishgardian knights sacrificed themselves to lure Dravanian ground troops to the Choke (an enclosed area) where Ishgard ambushed them. Scarwing's Fall, as best as I can guess from Ferne's impassioned speech) was a very earlier usage of what we know as "dragonkillers."
