Characters With Anime Names

My name isn't a character name, but it is my old nickname I've had since childhood since Selli is easier to say than Selina... I guess. Even my original last name for Selli (which was Esylenna) is just my middle name backwards with a couple letters changed.

My creativity is pretty limited. XD

Maybe it's just 'cause my boyfriend named his character Kallistra after... someone in Greek mythology (I think it was Callisto?). And it took him weeks to pick his character's name, while I was sitting there like, "I changed some letters in my name."

But I've done that with every character I've ever made in an MMO. If it didn't have part of my name it just didn't feel like me, I guess?

I've been asked a couple of times where i got Kesslers name from, or if its after a character from Infamous.
But i havent played that and honestly as far as i can tell id never heard the name before; not that i thought i was making a new name up just, i dont recall hearing it before anywhere.

Similarly ive been asked if Alesana is named after a band, but id not heard of them until asked that soooo
that said she was going to be called Alissa after a singer, but i said her full name to myself a few times and decided to change it slightly.

Sierra was partially named after seeing someone else with a char named Sierra, and i was like, i like that, and thought the idea of using the police code for a name system amusing... alongside... other reasons behind her character.

The ONLY one of my chars that actually does take a name from something other than being completely made up as such is Moko, who takes her last name from... a um.... series >.>

I don't care much about anime, watched only a few in their entirety and none of the names of characters from them are names I'd use or even like.

However... my name is from something, it's from my favorite fighting game, Soul Calibur or in my case, Soul Blade as that was when I first used Sophitia and that was when she became the main character I used; my rush to make a new character after getting to make one on the server I actually wanted to be on led me to punch this name in and never bothered to change it. I'm rather uncreative at naming anyway, so didn't give a flying... yeah.

But, for a long time now I've been wanting to use a lore friendly one, problem is I want to keep the Sophi or Sophia, and with the Miqo'te tribe letter I want I don't know how "right it sounds" so have been not so quick to change.

Before the name change and fantasia I was a seeker Miqo'te named after one of my OC'S with what I felt was an appropriate moonkeeper name and a name that I felt adequately paid homage to her sunseeker heritage. Then I became an au ra demi primal because I liked the idea of ANOTHER character I made having adopted a Dragon sister. .ow I'm getting bugged to change my name back, Pft.

I've probably come across many, but not bothered to take note. As far as copying names from pre-existing media, I don't for my mains or any character I play seriously, but I may either do it on alts to see if I can cosplay them as such, or just mess around with character creator. I managed to make Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, and Milia Fallyna from Macross (which worked better on GW2) on the character creator, and I have an alt named Id from Xenogears for shits and giggles. With Id, I want to see if I can dress up appropriately, and on a related note, I have seen an Elhaym Van'houten running around.

I always get annoyed by anyone that names their character after popular media of any kind. Come up with your own names!

Nope, but my first name Sango always gets 'Inuyasha?' remarks. I actually got it from the African god of thunder, but I guess that's a lil more obscure than Inuyasha lol.

Sango in Japanese means "coral." I have a Japanese maple I planted in my parents' backyard that is a Sango Kaku, or "coral bark" (in winter the branches flush blood red so it looks like coral, but they go back to green once it warms up).
