Characters With Anime Names

Well it WOULD be a problem if, for example, I went up to every Kirito I saw and said to them "SAO is an awful anime why do you like it"
...but I don't because, that's not productive for anyone. I'd just roll my eyes and keep moving.
In real life, do I see someone named like, Caytlyn for example or some other crazy name with Y's in it that don't need it, and go "why did your parents want to be special snowflakes?" Of course not. That'd be dumb, and that's not how you make friends.

More like people sorta need to get over it. Pretty sure my first response was more like "I don't like it but oh well". I think that's what most people are saying.

Actually there are over four million people in the US alone with the first name "John" so you're so obliviously wrong it's comical. That aside, I understand the idea that you want to pay homage (or whatever) to something you like. It immediately identifies you to others as a 'fan' of a particular series or game. People will immediately recognize a Kirito as a fan of Sword Art Online, for instance. A name gives you insight into a player, albeit relatively shallow. That being said, anyone with anime names I automatically assume is like 15. To be fair, though, I do dislike when you see a bunch of random cat people running around with the names of iconic Final Fantasy characters. I mean, at least try to make them look like the character you stole the name from, people.

No I agree. I think it's completely CRAZY for people to name characters of a Japanese role playing animated game after Japanese animated characters. pssst. Sarcasm. That's why I'll pick aaaaag dbsishssh as my next character. It's unique. The point is I couldn't care less, but the fact is "rolling your eyes" at anyone for a name they have is crazy and pretty much the definition of prejudice. I really hope the next yuuki you meet you roll your eyes and say oh. It's pIzza guy.

You...have no idea what prejudice means. You also don't seem to understand that country of origin and something that makes narrative sense aren't the same thing. or that uniqueness isn't the point. And frankly, I doubt very strongly I would care what any Haseo or Kirito's opinion of me is. I'd give you a high five if you had any valid points, or something to say other than that you're salty because the thread isn't a circle-jerk that mirrors your opinion on the matter.

My opinion was 100% disdainful, you're right. No sarcasm. I have nothing but disgust for the character Tauriel.

The reason I'm not backing down is because it is my meaningless opinion. It only has as much weight as Tauriel or you decided to give it. She chose to take it really personally and get offended. As I've said before, I don't know her so how could I have an opinion on her? I haven't even met her in game, so how could I judge if she's a good player or not? I can't and I didn't. All I said was that I don't like that name as I associate it with tacky audience-pandering on the part of Peter Jackson.

I also won't apologize for expressing my opinion, as much as one might disagree, on a forum that's purpose is discussion and the expressing of opinions. You can claim that I was rude all day long, but I strongly disagree. From where I'm standing I expressed my opinion and you didn't like it so you automatically jumped to attacking my character.

If you're going to get this thread back "on topic" re: anime names, I'll show myself out. I had nothing more to add than I don't like them. Again, I only opined on Tauriel's name because she presented it, coupled with the fact that there was an ongoing discussion about it.

I think everyone named yuuki is awesome and I always give them a high five. Cause anime names are awesome. As are the hobbit names. Or any names.
