Possibility to change the Company after FFXIV-(2) re-release?

I know that Yoshida said, that there wont be an option to change the company later on.
and that we should carefully decide for which company we decide to join.

But coming along with the massive change of all areas (especially gridania!) maybe it would be a good option for old players to make them possible to change the company again?

Why that? Because i decided for Ul'dah and against Gridania because i disliked the areas of gridania at all. (you always walk through copy&paste "tunnels" its awful. though i personally identifie myself with the "philosophy" of grid)
i think when they change all regions that the atmosphere for each region will change also. so i think it would be good for all "old" players to rejoin an other company if they want to.

I mean they said it will be possible to change the appearance of the character, because of all the changes it should be also possible to change the company (that for me is much more important in my opinion).


i mean new players who are going to start with "Final Fantasy XIV 2.0" can decide for their company regarding all new surroundings etc. which i cant.
im not the type "crying for everything" but i think this would make sense.

what do you personally think?

Anyway, apparently the "Free Company" system allows you to join a Grand Company as a large group. So you could be allied with the Immortal Flames personally, but be in a player company that has allied with the Twin Adder, thus being able to experience both.

I picked limsa because I hate the way gridania is now, and will be for the upcoming year at least, and Uldah is just as worn out and dull as you might expect from.. a desert.

Although I read in the bluegartr interview that you'll still be in the same company after 2.0 I do hope we'll get some sort of manner to change eventually. There was all this talk of how "it won't matter which company you pick, you'll still be able to play with your friends". Now they're saying how there will be faction-tied rivalries, pvp to fight for dominance etc. I'd rather do that in the same company as my friends than work against them.

Seriously though as Tsukino said Free companies will give you the option to do party based content with the companies, you still won't have access to the solo stuff though.

I definitely picked my grand company based on the surrounding regions... since most grand-companies are region-locked (caravans and guild leves only are in the surrounding areas), it seems like the two main things to pick based on are personality and aesthetics. I picked Limsa, but post-2.0 i might like the new Gridania.

I wish they'd just do it the way FFXI did allegiance changes... pay some cost, and "start over" in the new country as a rank 1. There's a price to change (you "lose" progress unless you change back) but full access to all content on one character is a possibility.
