Looking at the completion rates of Savage anything, I think you are wildly overestimating the number of players with such items, and very much understating the value of the newly enhanced relics.While we are at it lets just delete all gil and make it even more useless then it already is. FF 14 economy is not really as relevant as it was in 1.0/2.0 with most things easily achieved now and days. Even the relic ingredients at this point in time is mainly for acquiring a glamour item if you have Savage weapons or even Thordan Xtreme weapons. Housing is the only real gil check in the system of a flood of gil.
SE has already announced more plots and wards in existing areas, and apartment style housing is coming after that;
January Live Letter, 4th Question.
Note, that in this answer the original Japanese language used the term 'Mansion' to describe the building housing the apartments. I think that because they want this new type of housing to be roughly equivalent to small personal houses, the apartments will be two level Maisonettes - which fits very well the 'Mansion' concept in the original Japanese.A: We'll be increasing the number of plots for existing housing areas in Patch 3.3. After we expand those areas, we'll add apartment-style housing in Ishgard areas afterwards, starting with one apartment-style building which will hold about 512 residences. We’re also planning to make chocobo stables available for use to residents of apartment-style housing. Gardening patches are still proving somewhat difficult, but we’re currently developing new “planter pots” that will allow gardening.Q: Auto-reclamation for housing starts this month, but can you tell us if there will be any future additions of plots?
As per demand, we are also looking into the prospect of increasing the number of indoor furnishings which can be placed in residences.

The thing is 'more wards' is only a band aid as they will just run out within 10 minutes again. The game needs an unlimited pool of housing plots for players to buy. Many other MMOs have managed this so it is perfectly feasible. SE just designed the current system very very poorly.SE has already announced more plots and wards in existing areas, and apartment style housing is coming after that;

I'm not sure where you're getting the two storey thing from. 'Mansions' in Japan are apartment blocks. Flats. The mansions are still limited by the way; 512 apartments (not houses, they're likely identical to FC private chambers). Firstly they won't last long, and secondly players don't want apartments, they want houses. Like I said, other MMOs have managed this just fine so why can't SE?

You're just repeating what's in my posts. Yes apartments will be 512 to a block, but it will be easy to implement multiple 'blocks' considering that they are implemented along the same lines as a FC house. 1 block per ward in all housing wards would end the housing shortage overnight. Also I think that these apartments will be maisonettes, not simply chambers because they are trying to give players something equivalent to an individual house, the smallest of which has two floors (including basement).The thing is 'more wards' is only a band aid as they will just run out within 10 minutes again. Even with 512 person mansions, they'll still be limited. What happens when they fill? The problem starts all over again.
Private instances that aren't loaded the entire time are the solution, just like your Inn room. So replace the Inn room with a private instanced room. Preferably one that doesn't blackmail you into resubbing for every 45 days, too.
