Please let us GIVE our houses to friends.

I don't really use my house much, and recently I decided I'd just give it to some folks in the FC. They really wanted a house, but they also didn't figure they'd ever be able to afford one.

I was pretty shocked when I realized there's no way to simply give your house to someone else. I didn't want to sell my plot or reclaim any of my gil -- I just wanted to do something nice for some enthusiastic FC mates.

Why can't this be possible?

Because it was designed to be a gil sink, and this would be extremely open to abuse and RMT transactions; if you can give a player a house what's to stop really rich players buying houses and then gifting them to folks who pay them IRL with real $$ for the pleasure of receiving such a gift? Not exactly a big stretch of the imagination to see that kind of transaction happening.

You can share ur house with peopleif u want, after they can add/remove dye furnishing, plant, harvest, crop, stabling choco... like they own the house

Unfortunately something like this would be crossing too many bad lines and as others have pointed out, there would be a lot of abuse to this feature.


There's something you should think about.. With features, there will ALWAYS be those that abuse them.

The same thing (abuse) can (and does) happen now. So being able to give your houses to friends wouldn't make that better or worse.

But I don't see how the gil sink argument is ultimately relevant. If I want another house/room/etc, I'll eventually need to buy one. Thus, the same amount of gil will be flushed from the game as it would with me staying in my house and my FC mates needing to buy something later.

EDIT: I'm aware I can give people housing controls, but I literally don't use my house, and I'd rather just give it to a friend who'd be in complete control of it. That said, I'd prefer to hang onto it if it's between that and just releasing it to the masses, where it might go into the hands of someone who'd gouge its price.

You can wait 45 days and get 80% of the price back. Then simply give the money to your friend so they can buy the plot.

Basically this. You don't throw fuel to the fire if your goal is to control it or put it out.

Worst case scenario, you could always front the gil for them to buy it, since you do make some of it back. While that obviously does mean you're spending something as a gift for them, given how simple it generally is to make gil, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
