We're upset because SE isn't taking the time to fully realize the things we do have, and enjoy. My favorite parts of the game involve side quests and the gold saucer. Some people enjoy PvP; and that's okay, too. We all just want SE to really work on the aspects of the game we do enjoy instead of pushing it aside right after it's implemented.
YOU are upset because they are not putting their focus on the content YOU would like them to focus on. "Random person A" is upset because they are not focusing on the content "Random person A" wants them to focus on. You do not speak for everyone. Nor does anyone else. Everyone has their own preferences for what SE should focus on.
If they were to put more focus on the content you want them to focus on, that would mean less focus on content that other people want them to focus on. No matter what they do, there will always be people that want them to do things differently. If it isn't you that is unhappy, it will be someone else.

A lot of ideas get tested. Some turn into staples for future updates, while others get pushed aside until they get an idea on how to improve in them. There is nothing wrong with stating your unhappiness with the way things are, but it accomplishes nothing. It just causes them to continue trying to add new things until they find something that has a relatively good reception. That is why we haven't gotten a continuation of the riddle questline: Aside from one or two threads of people exchanging information on how to solve the riddles, most other threads about it were people complaining that it was pointless, too hard or the reward wasn't good enough. The point of the riddle quests was to have quests for people that liked solving riddles for the sake of solving riddles, but they found out that portion of the playerbase that actually enjoyed that sort of content just wasn't big enough to continue it in it's current format. That is why we got the broom quests instead.

And do not make the mistake of thinking that the majority of the playerbase is unhappy based on the amount of people expressing their dislike on forums! The vast majority of the playerbase do not post on the forums, or anywhere else for that matter, as they are happy with the way things are.

P.S. There have been two major content patches since the Gold Saucer was added. Both of them added 20 new triple triad cards each.
