You know this entire argument would be easily solved if SE just gave players a button to relinquish their house and get 80% of the gil back on demand. Having to wait 45 days for the auto-demolish to return any gil isn't a solution if someone wants to change servers or just saw another plot open up that they wanted instead. The problem here is a poorly implemented system. You can accuse players of being greedy all you like (though those selling under the circumstances I've listed above are NOT being greedy) but it's the flawed system itself that you really ought to be challenging.

A problem that could be easily solved by a simple change by SE in an update? Such a ridiculous notion. That will never be the case and we will never have to endure such limitations to enjoy our game play. Surely.

In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
