whats the new best way to get
The Market Board. If that isn't an option, you can craft HQ darksteel hooks and trade them in at Mor Dhona for Artisan tools, and then desynthesize them. You'll get Fieldcraft III & Mastercraft demimateria. I should clarify, the trade-in for Artisan tools varies depending on what class it is for. Darksteel hooks came to mind as a cheap option, but you could also do HQ Spruce Plywood. Depends on what Desynth skill you leveled, really.

If you have leatherworker desynth at a high enough level, you can buy http://xivdb.com/item/9288/Bridesmaid's+Sandals from the vendor in Uldah (little clothing shop across from the main city aetheryte). Those desynth into either spruce lumber, hard hippogryph skin, or Fieldcraft demimateria III. They cost 6k gil, and I normally have about a 1/5 success rate for getting fieldcraft III.
It's a gamble, but when I see them on the market board at 50k+, it's a gamble I usually take.
3600 grand company seals gets the items for a better-crowned pie if you desynth cul or know someone who does.
I desynth bridesmaid sandals, they have a fairly decent turn rate, and can be bought from an npc for fairly cheap
Rimless Glasses gave fair chance of FC3 for me.
Thick-rimmed spectacles also have a fairly good FC3 rate, but they require two FC2s per craft.
Depends on your desynth.
BSM GSM ARM: As a side product of MC demi farm from artisan tools.
CUL: Farm company seals, buy a bunch of mats, trade for better crowned pies, desynth those.
LTW: Bridesmaid's Sandals.
Don't go for FC3s on WVR CRP or ALC. WVR and CRP rely on forager's gear, and that's just too slow to get. ALC should be obvious why we don't use.

Since I dont make any profit from mine and keep them all for gear, i'll tell you the best way.
Elegant rimless glasses / Reading glasses.
2 cyrstal glass - 3 silex, 1 natron, 1 minium
1 silver ingot - 2 silver ore
You can mine all the mats except rock salt (cheap from vendor) and minimum which is only 200 GC Seals or usually goes for a simular price on the market board.

How not to desynth....
Also there are some items which convert into FCIII, i70 parts.
The funny thing is not many people know that, gryphonskin elbow/legs etc something. I managed to purchase them for between 1-400gil each made a nice 8 mil profit in a week ^^
