How will SE handle 1.0 players in a 2.0 world?

I would imagine that our current characters would transfer over when 2.0 is finally released. I couldn't imagine SE forcing players to start over from scratch. So how is SE going to handle an entire player base who is essentially maxed out in levels?

The current players are going to be able to skip past most of the beginning content of 2.0 and focus on end-game almost immediately. They could raise the level cap significantly, however that would put new players at a great disadvantage as they probably would never be able to catch up.

    1) It's already confirmed you keep everything with your character.

    2) Why would we skip the beginning content of 2.0? It's all new for everyone, even the level 50's.

    3) Level cap isn't in the plans, thankfully. (For now anyways.)

As fast as they have made it to level? If they keep it this way, players will have no trouble getting to max level in a week.

They could do something to trivialize the first 50 levels to get new and returning players caught up fast. Would be smart if they made the first 50 levels fast and have newer lvl cap at 2.0.

I want my mount to be a throne held by 2.0 neophytes.

And a crown. Beaches love crowns.

I don't really know that leveling needs to be much faster per se. If you do it correctly you can get outrageous EXP. Leves/Behest could use more tweaking so that people can actually... you know... solo them. I don't quite know how Jobs are going to play out (if we get them the same level as the respective class or what) but it wouldn't be a bad idea to make the jobs start at lv1 and have a much steeper EXP curve. Have it so getting to 50 on a class is pretty easy but difficult to get a job to 50. Then have 2nd tier jobs that require 2 jobs to 50. (IE: DRK would be unlocked after getting WAR + BLM to 50). Probably won't be much like that but that's just my two cents.

With a huge volume of players likely to be dumped into the game at 2.0 launch I don't think leveling will be much of an issue. Right now its hard because everyone is 50 so a lower level player doesn't have much to party with but when 2/3 of the server is level 10-20 then it will be much easier. When the EXP camps are crowded by soloers, (competent) people team up together.

You can get like 40-50k/hr in partys through most the levels, maby around 20-30k/hr in the mid 20s low 30s, and close to 100k/hr in the mid-upper 40s.

Leveling atm is absurdly fast atm if anything they need to nerf it. While Soloing is alot slower... it is still easily a level a night if you spend 2-3hrs which is a very good leveling pace in a mmo with 50 levels.

As for the new and Old. New will vastly outnumber the old (if not the game has bigger problems then a balance issue with the current subcount). It will be just like NA release of XI, PS3 EU/NA launch, and Xbox launch. In each of these new members entered with a ton of capped people, and everything worked out well.

SE needs to do what they did with each of these other releases. Release new classes with them. So PS3 release = release of arcanist and musketeer. Now old people will be leveling with the new... problem solved.

I am level 36 and I have yet to join a party. I have yet to see how anyone would even go about getting a party with no search tools. I see big groups of people killing stuff sometimes when doing leves, but they usually in the same linkshell.

I would argue that leveling is super slow. There is no tools for making parties and unless you have some big group of friends playing FFXIV you really have no choice but to solo. Leveling definitely isn't fine. I would love to join a party and get more then 6k an hour which i get solo from leves. My linkshell usually has nobody on it most of the time or maybe 1 or 2 people if lucky to catch someone on, so that really isn't an option to level fast.

All the people that have like a bunch of level 50 jobs probably did it with a set group or a linkshell. I find it hard that you would solo all of that. I been playing since the launch of the game and still haven't yet to get anything to 50.
