Shaved heads and those nasty faux tribal tattoos

I know they are not really tattoos, but I hate how the only male midlander hairstyle I like in the game (shaved head) has to have horrible faux tribal tattoos on each side of the cranium. Why can't we have an option without the tribal tattoos (like Lalafels) or completely bald (like Roes).

I've complained since 1.0 beta hoping SE would add the option on release, then ARR release, then HW... In all of this, I've sent in-game suggestions to SE. How else (besides ranting on these boards) can I be heard? Am I alone in hating how SE has to make everything with a touch of the outlandish. I love it on most things they do, but I'd like to have normal options too!

It's lore based, don't expect SE to budge. Look at the outcry when the 3 HW jobs were locked behind the MSQ, and how SE didn't move. They seem to be very keen to keeping things consistent.

Interesting. I didn't know the tribal designs on the shaved heads are lore-based for midlanders. I will do a proper search when I get home but would mind sharing some links about this?

I know about the shaved eyebrows for highlanders but I'm not privvy of the lore on midlanders.

I've gotten used to the giant tribal design carved into my head. Didn't know it was lore based. What's the meaning of it?

I'd love it if they made a plain buzz-cut look, but if they do that they'd have to make it for everyone.

The female elf has a buzz cut that doesn't have any design on it; I suppose whatever "lore" reason it to show it's traditional Hyur tribe design since Highlander males have it too + Hyurs have migrated and warred with the Eorzeans living here before them

I've been digging around and have found no official lore explanation of the faux 'tribal' symbol featured in the male midlander's buzzed / shaved haircut. I have not come across any explanation, in-game and out, as to why this symbol must exist on the side of our heads. I have not seen this symbol in-game, brandished in any way to support lore.

This leads me to believe that the restriction is not due to lore, but because of something else. Graphical limitations do not seem like a reasonable explanation since SE has since introduced a lot more complex hairstyles. Manpower does not seem to be a reasonable explanation since, as in above, they've probably spent a lot more time creating the new complex hairstyles. I mean the buzzed cut, shaved head style already exists for the lalafel, highlanders and roes!

Is SE just not aware that they forgot to put in the standard, non-fancy, option?

Highlanders have the same shaved head with tattoos, and nothing else. Its about as shaved as it comes other than going bald.

I should have clarified. I was referring to the bald option which highlanders and roes have. I'd settle for that over the faux tribal-imprinted buzz cut. The lalafel's plain buzz cut would have been perfect for my midlander. SE please!!
