Steam free trail to pc full version

This is really confusing me especially for a multi platform MMO. I want to start out by saying that I understand the that there is a "PC" and "Steam" version of this game that are the same game just different Applications. And if I could go back a week ago I would have not registered for the Steam free trail.

I have created an account registered for the Steam 14 day free trial, logged in, created my character and have been playing ever since. I found out yesterday that SE is having a sale on some of their games FF14 bundle happens to be one of them. So I purchased the game downloaded their launcher (which took as long as demo) and when I finally get to login it turns out that my character/account is still linked to "Steam". When I try to enter registration code it will not over ride the FREE TRAIL.

So my question is there anyway to cancel the "free trail" and convert my character/account back to being a stand alone unsubscribed account? Or switch it from Steam to PC? Short of creating a new account (which I am tempted to do) is there any way around this?

Nope sorry you can't convert a Steam service account to a non-Steam service account or vice versa. You can use the same login details, but you would need to add the non-Steam version as an additional service account (new characters) and just ignore your original trial service account or create a completely new SE account (each SE account can have up to 8 service accounts under it though, you change via using the data server option on the main menu)

So what you're saying is that even once my free trial runs out I will still not be able to register my non-Steam version to this account. So by that logic if I had started on the PS4, then got the PC version I would not have been able to register it either?

Anyway, I feel like I'm missing something obvious. How do I add an additional service account to my existing SE account?

You can start on PS4 and can add PC later, but you can only have 1 PC on per service account (be it either Steam or non-Steam, not both). Because your account was created via the Steam trial unfortunately it's already flagged your service account as Steam only so the only PC version you can add now to that particular service account is Steam PC.

Also to clarify, in case I confused the issue, each service account is a separate subscription with separate characters and you can have PC (Steam or non-Steam, not both), PS3, PS4 and Mac on each along with their respective Heavensward versions.

You register the game code there, but as a new service account, not on an existing account. You don't have to have them on the same Square Enix main account, but I find it much easier to switch between them without having to log all the way out/back in (and they let you add 8 service accounts per main account so that must be their plan too)

So what I ended up doing was creating a new email account and registering my version to that... Still annoyed that my SE account linked to my real email was eaten by a free trail and that I could not remember my SE account login info that is linked to my secondary email. Oh well... Still the most annoyed that I have been in a while for something that should be so simple. I get that it was a trail but I looked at my sisters mog shop, who has a full version of the game, and there was all kinds of options, were mine only option was to upgrade (through steam) to the full version :/
