Goad - the ability that doesn't exist

I said valid reason for hesitancy. Never said to not use it. There should be no hesitance on the Ninja's part. Good Ninja's never even need to be asked. They see someone with low TP, Goad, bam! done.

I agree, and this thread seems to be about jobs not using their tools properly, not sure what you are getting at other than agreeing with me. But brds are and have always been the worst offender of not using stuff to benefit the pt. there are way more, why dont brd sing? threads then why dont nins goad? threads lol. I rarely even see brd using foe requiem for mages and that does not have a 15% reduction to dps, its purely beneficial but they never use it.

I like not getting it on WAR, that's my favourite. No seriously, I like having no TP, it's better than you having to press that button and everything Mr. NIN.

Yeah I play paladin and if it's a really long fight like in 8 or 24 man content I run out of tp usually within the last 30%.


Also, as a bard, shouldn't you have invigorate from lancer? It's really a must have, I never need goad and don't really expect the ninja to give it to me.

I'm a MT PLD for my raid group, often the goad target in a1s. When running ex/va however it goes to the drg. ( or a crazy awesome healer who sprints, spam holy, repeat and puts us all to shame on trash.

Apparently, Goad has been removed from the game. That can be the only reason that Ninjas never give me (brd) Goad when doing heavy aoe. This is only slightly an exaggeration. I figure I get goad from less than 5% of ninjas.

This is the case regardless of what other jobs are in the party. In fact, I rarely, if ever, see Goad being used on anyone at all.

My songs are always up as appropriate. Perhaps you can play your job as well? Just a thought.

sounds to me you are doing aoe wrong. dot three enemies, and your aoe will always be ready. only reason to use any aoe besides rain of death is if things wont live long enough for dots.

But it's also true that I don't play NIN in dungeons very often, since its AoE isn't that great, which can really bog down runs where I'm not paired with a good DPS partner. This is probably true of a lot of NIN "mains," if I had to guess. There are better DPS classes to bring into dungeons so long as you have more than one DPS with decent gear, and if they don't have a DPS, they might have a geared tank or healer they normally use instead. So I wouldn't be surprised if many NINs in DF are folks who don't look into their jobs' abilities as much, generally, and who might not be aware of NIN's utility.

In general, though, I think folks just don't consider utility much in 4-mans. I see BRD's neglecting Foe Requiem or BLMs and SMNs neglecting Eye for an Eye/Virus (I'm really bad about all three of those myself) about as much as I see NIN's neglecting Goad. I just tend to remember NIN's utility because it's my main.

I did a quick Roulette. Saw the WAR running low on TP and gave him a Goad. He praise for me the Goad and left me in complete confusion lol. I didn't know it was that bad in the DF. O.o;;

Tanks can't use Invigorate, so they'll get priority.
But if you ask, I find most are willing to give.

On top that, Waeksyn, your bard has an ability to restore TP too!

To those pointing out that bard does have a TP song, you do know that it reduces damage? Do you prefer that damage go down or that a nin just push a single button to keep the damage up and mob kills faster? Outside of long fight, lots of low TP in the party situations, I only use Army's between pulls to speed up party TP recovery in readiness for the next big pull.

I have a macro asking for it and I still never get it. Especially annoying on paladin.
