Goad - the ability that doesn't exist

As others have said, you could always ask if there is a spare goad going around, but you should use your own utility first, as that is what others are expecting.

As I've said in my posts, I do use the other utilities.

You are correct that brd, or for that matter anybody, doesn't NEED goad. Lots of parties complete dungeons without a single nin in the party at all! Amazing!

It is, though, no excuse to not use the abilities you have to benefit the party. When I see myself with <200 TP, invigorate already used, all other party members at 800 TP+, no goad on anyone (and no goad cast at all in the entire raid), I got to wonder.

The main problem with Goad is that it does nothing for the Ninja, therefore, why use it?

I use Goad, but I hate the whiners who act like I can use Goad every 30 seconds. I can only buff one, which is why I have a priority: PLD/DRK > WAR > other DPS who use TP.

Why on earth would warrior need a goad. They are like the TP sustain gods at the moment.

I can count the amount of times I've seen a DF WAR switch to Deliverance for Equilibrium TP restore on one hand.

During lower levels it can be a god send before WAR gets some of it's higher level toys to play with. At lower levels Berserk + Bloodbath + Overpower spam can be a great way to deal with a big or nasty pull, several SV pulls spring to mind, so does the big pull in the first zone of DD. I used that combo in many of the HW dungeons too as it's so effective, especially if the healer isn't the best. I haven't leveled NIN yet but when I do as soon as I see a WAR go into OP spam he's getting Goad.

I use mine all the time but tank always takes priority no matter what. If I see a tank is nearing 50% then I hold it for the tank, if the tank knows how to manage themselves then others can have it.

I've been see a lot of tanks lately who blow through their TP like it's nothing and Goad has such a long cool down that I don't chance it because if the tank drops down and runs out then the party is screwed.

Really it's based on the party and how well people play their classes and since I mostly DF stuff it's always different but I'm always checking the other players, it's just a shame it has such a long cool down.

Only War tank uses enough TP to need Goad. But, like I said, I hardly ever see it used on Anyone, including War tanks.

As far as asking for it, I just finished a level 50 roulette. I asked the Nin several times for goad with no response. Finally, I told him that goad should be used on party members with low TP, especially in those big pull AOE times. His response? Oh? I never knew that at all. Frankly, I think I was being trolled.

One problem that I tend to see is that people don't really read the chat log. They keep their eyes on the action and don't pay much attention to other stuff.

If you are a 60 WAR and you run out of TP you must be doing something wrong. They should never need goad
