    Donation box

I wonder what would you think about donation boxes in the job guilds.

Basically a box, rag or NPC where you could add specific gear like armor, tools or weapons for low level characters bellow 50.

One of the hobbies of mine is visiting the guilds and making the life of green leaves easier, but of course I can't be there all the time and some of them are shy, which brought me to the idea that it would be great if there was an option to leave the stuff there free for whoever would need it.

It would probably need to souldbound the items on take, maybe some log attached or even paying for it with leve allowences, but I believe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have these.

    What do you think?

I think what you're doing is already the better solution. New players (specifically, players new to MMOs who don't already have the knowledge to make their way in an MMO) need something besides handouts, they need guidance. In fact, if new players could just go to a box and receive items or money or whatever else, it would be a disservice to them.

Improving your character is most of what makes an MMO fun so we would be taking that away from them with a system like this. In addition, earning those improvements is what teaches newer ones how to be good players.

I think it would be cool if new players could grab new armor/weapons from a donation box. I would think that there should be a limit on how many items can be taken from donation boxes per day, like 5 so they can have at least some gear to level in, and when the gear is placed in the donation box it should be flagged as unsellable + nonconvertible to prevent abuse.

I understand the need for a new player to learn how to earn gil, etc. to succeed but allowing the new player to have fun first may go a long way towards player retention. ( ~.ø)b
